Do we really have to slam the brakes on Mobley that hard?

Those two just went up against each other and Evan more than held his own.

I'd be fascinated to see where Bones Hyland went in a redraft. An announcer once described him as "a player who scares both coaches" and I thought it was a wonderful description. I see him as a Jordan Clarkson-type, but what's that worth in the draft? I'm guessing last few picks of the lottery in a redraft. What do others think?

After starting the year terribly on 3pt shooting, Franz is now up to 37% on volume. It’s at the point now where it’s a suprise if he misses. Such a crazy trajectory considering he wasn’t a shooter in college

Another shoutout to that amazing video from the previous page for pointing out how good he is at 3PT shooting with space and how bad he is at quick pull-ups -- which, yes, limits his ceiling.

It explains a lot. He shot a lot of pull-ups early in the year when he was the emergency point guard and it looked all wrong for him. Now not only is he enjoying more corner 3s but he's also figured out ways to get around his pull-up game: step back shots to create space, shooting over short guys on a switch, or simply launching from a few feet behind the 3PT line.

He'll need to unlock another gear in his shooting if he wants to be a superstar, but I'm impressed how he's found a way to mitigate one of his weaknesses so quickly and effectively.

Franz Wagner is the best player from that draft at the moment 100%

Mobley hasn’t taken the next step yet, and obv Cade is out. Not a real fan of Jalen Green tbh maybe im biased. Giddey is also blowing away his naysayers.

Barnes looked extremely poor to start the year but watching the last month his potential is very obvious - a very odd player who can both impact as a well rounded point guard, or a scorer in a more traditional big man role. Anthony Mason actually comes to mind, but with some Siakam-like iso and big time transition ability as well.

Call me a homer, but I still think Barnes ends up the second best player in the draft after Cade in a few years time. Barnes’ physical profile is just too good and when he puts it all together (assuming his 3s start dropping eventually) he is going to be such a problem.

I haven’t seen enough of Mobley to understand where he’s struggling or why he has levelled out for now.

Scottie was apparently the best last year (but it was close), now Franz looks the best, and who'll look like the best next year? Could be Franz. Could be Cade. Could even be Sengun. I think eventually Mobley will have his year (big men take longer to develop).

Yup. Said it earlier that's it's a draft where multiple people will have best years. And that's OK. Lots of teams got great players. Enjoy their impact and be happy you got one, if your team did.

I dont think Mobley will be happy with his role with the Cavs.

Jarett Allen is getting his share of rebs and blks.
Mitch-Garland is getting most of the share on offense.

And at the same time, Cavs is pretty good because they have him as someone who can be really good at a limited role he’s asked to do.

By this offseason, Cavs is about to look for upgrades at SF.

You let someone like LeVert play SF, and Mobley’s role on offense further decreases.

If you let somone like Roco or Crowder at SF, and Mobley’s role on defense further decreases.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

It’s so funny going back to read through this thread. The insults I got from simply pointing out the realities of Jalen Green.

Seems like the Houston faithfuls are starting to finally pick up on what I’ve been saying all season.

You can’t coach up dudes that refuse to give effort for anything that doesn’t involve on ball scoring

We get it. You don't like JG for whatever reason but you've been repeating the same clueless commentary ad infinitum in every thread that even bothers to mention his name.
Seems personal to be so emotionally invested in denigrating a player you claim to dislike.

The best players will shine through in 5 years time. Redraft will only be relevant then.

Mobley is so far and away ahead of where JJJ was at the same stage it’s crazy

Much better rebounder, finisher, doesn’t foul anywhere close to as much. JJJs only advantage early was that he was better from 3, but still poor

If Mobley only ends up as JJJ that would be a major disappointment, and I love JJj and think he’s DPoY

Mobley is more polished and dynamic

Some of you need to take the team context into account more. Cavs are a much more stable and matured franchise. OKC has been dealt major injuries. Houston is a mess because they are a tanking young team and have the cheapest owner in league history. Put Mobley or Barnes on there and see what happens to their stats.

Would anyone have said this before Mobley came along?

What about Mitchell? He’s a stabilizer on and off the court. The team has been building for several years now and getting him was a huge piece of the puzzle that was added to Garland.

No doubt, but I would argue that Mobley’s arrival last year was the biggest contribution to us doubling our win total and transforming our defense.

Allen, Garland, Wade, Osman, Okoro, Love, Stevens, Coach JBB…7 of our 10 highest minute rotation guys and our coach were here in that 20-21 season when we posted the 25th ranked defense in the league. And we got up to 7th last year and 2nd this year. And the other 3 major additions were LeVert and Mitchell, who have by the numbers been some of the worst defenders in the league the last few years, and then Mobley. Excluding Rubio who would be included as a rotation guy because he’s been injured. Of course we can’t discount the natural improvement from guys like Garland and Allen, and not playing Sexton was addition bu subtraction, but it’s very clear that Mobley’s presence with his mobility, switchability, and great positioning has allowed wonky lineups to work. The three big lineup last year, the two small guard lineup this year… I mean especially this year who would expect a team with two 6’1 guards with reputations as terrible defenders and a gaping hole at SF to be the 2nd best defense in the league?

I think Mobley at certain points was a little overhyped last year as people painted him as the surefire next generational big. But now he’s actually underrated in terms of his value to the Cavs.

I guess the question is should OKC have taken Mobley first. If they end up drafting Wemby then the answer is no.
