You won't get a back up 5 that is as much plug-and-play compared with Sabonis as him. With the news Charlotte is selling there is a deal to be made.
I've been on this wagon all season. In the off-season people were talking about Holmes for Plumlee as more of a dump for Sac with assets coming back to us. Plumlee was fantastic behind Jokic as a guy who played the same style. I really think Holmes can get back to what he was in Charlotte with Melo. And I've personally always liked Charlotte and want to see both them and Holmes succeed.
Plumlee for Holmes + 2 2nds would be my offer.
Only question is does Charlotte still feel like they may need a center. Richards looked really good earlier in the season, although now he seems to be getting DNPs. And Mark Williams is starting to play a lot more and is healthy recently.
Still like the trade for both. Charlotte probably will look to focus on developing Williams, while having Richaun as a great locker room guy to play 25mpg the next 2 seasons. Bring back Bridges, move off Hayward/Rozier, draft a young stud guard to go with Melo, and suddenly you are back to having a fast athletic young rotation that fits together.
