6-15 let's say. Is there anyone?
Definitely the twins. Cam might also slip - people are selling way too early considering his tools and motor. Jett Howard has a flamethrower jumper, and a nifty enough handle and solid playmaking instincts to maybe one day be a primary ala Devin Booker. Ant Black is a little more of a longshot, and needs either or both of his first step and jumper to come around, but his size, athleticism and playmaking is special
I'll preface everything I'm about to say by first saying that there's a lot of college ball left to play. Then there's March Madness, the combine, workouts...so there's a lot more information left to gather BUT:
1. Walker
Spoke about him earlier. Like I said, if his 3pt shooting is for real, he's going to be a plug and play PF with the chance to become a star. He needs to work on his post moves and right now he's only taking about 2 3pt attempts per game. I think you're looking at a Jerami Grant floor, Millsap ceiling.
2. George
He's got a knack for making some very, very difficult shots. Puts some pressure on the rim as well, which is nice to see (we haven't had an SG who could do that in quite some time) but I find he doesn't covert there well. Doesn't have the greatest shot selection but is a very willing and capable passer who competes defensively as well. Pretty good 3pt shooter on volume and can create space to get his shot off. He hasn't been very efficient shooting from the field though, which is a little worrisome. But if he puts it all together, we could be looking at another Bradley Beal type.
I contemplated adding Jett Howard but truthfully, I don't know what to make of him. He's an excellent shooter and A/TO is pretty good but he doesn't defend, doesn't really put pressure on the rim, rebounding and assist numbers are kinda meh. If all he's going to do is shoot, even at an elite level, his potential is pretty limited. Then again, he's posting better numbers than Booker did and we all saw what happened there.
I like Walker a lot, and in this range I also like Gradey Dick a lot as well. I have a hard time believing Gradey won't become as good as someone like Pistons Bogdanovich, but am hoping for even better than that. I think in his prime he could be the premier off-ball shooting wing, similar to Klay now.
Neither of these guys fix all our holes but both provide shooting. Jarace would bunch up the front court even more, but if you think he's an all star down the line, you gotta take him and figure out the roster problem after.
George still intrigues me, but bad efficiency in college is a bit of a turn off.
Then finally, the other guy I'm liking in that range is Anthony Black who looks like a Masai type player and does at least project to fix the issue of someone that can get into the lane quickly possibly, without even needing a screen. Seems to play both ways and can shoot it a bit, but still needs work there.
So, I think as it stands, the prospect I like most in our range without even considering fit on our roster and just talent, is Jarace Walker, followed by Black and Dick, who are in a tight race for 2nd place and would be better roster fits with current group if say, we just move Trent this deadline.
