By the way, after this rough conversation I am a bit more optimistic about taking Wade's run here. He was way more consistent, faced overall a bit better competition in my opinion and had worse team around him - yet I don't ser any massive difference in terms of level of play.

As I said before - I like Giannis a lot, this is not my attempt to make him look bad.

How has this Wade v Giannis discussion turned into an epistemological debate on the nature of morality lol.

Also I don't see why docking Giannis for missing games is seen as controversial. Why would his team winning without him somehow make this void? He had 0% impact for part of the post season. Not gud.

If you take this to it's logical conclusion, if Giannis was out for the first 3 rounds but then won the Finals, it wouldn't matter because "he won anyway"... That's nonsensical.

The logical conclusion of missing two games is not to miss nearly the entire playoffs.

This is not a situation where an extreme example constitutes proof

The logical conclusion of him playing through a hurt knee by this logic is if he lost both his arms in an accident where he stopped a serial killer and then proceeded to play the next 7 games dropping 35 a game without 2 arms
And shooting with his shoulder

Sometimes using an extreme example proves a point but this isn’t one of those times

The idea isn’t that Giannis cannot be docked for missing games, it’s that it’s valid to say he made up for it by playing through an injury he shouldn’t have played through

People are free to dock him for missing those games and not give him extra credit for playing as well as he did through an injury, but it’s kinda corny and not something people do in real life lol

My point has been pretty clearly that him playing as he did through the injury makes up for him missing two games because of it. You are free to disagree with that, but I think it’s fair to say the majority of people would agree when they evaluate this run.

Of course the typical counter is “well most people think XXXX that doesn’t make it true!!?” And that’s fine but this is about a subjective evaluation of context where really no ones opinion holds more weight than the other. I stated a pretty uncontroversual opinion that the injury situation isn’t something that people in general hold against Giannis but rather use to prop his run up and that in most people’s eyes him playing through the injuries as well as he did was extremely impressive and made up for the two missed games

focusing on the two missed games instead of the superhuman effort in he finals despite his knee is fine, but yeah most people would find it corny, and I feel anyone here that talks to people irl about basketball wouldn’t find it controversial. This isn’t an argument about any objective assessment, you CAN hyperfocus on missing the 2 games being a bigger deal than what happened in the finals and the contextual adversity he overcame.

I’m not saying that’s objectively the incorrect thing to do, I’m saying that I think it’s a bit weird and a bit corny, and that most people in the world would probably agree. I don’t think the above is a controversial statement for anyone that talks hoops outside of the forum, and since this really is more about a subjective evaluation of contextual factors rather than anything about an objective difference in knowledge or understanding, it’s a pretty valid reason to say that the perspective of this situation thats expressed here on giannis’s end isn’t how people normally view or evaluate this situation at all

I need more sleep, wasn't meant to type out logical conclusion but you addressed what I meant anyway.

But no fair enough, I have a better idea of your perspective now. I could be swayed with the notion that him playing through injuries that other players might possibly not, counteracts the two games he missed (especially as he's being compared to the notoriously injury plagued Wade). Thanks for the detailed response.
You said to me “I will give you scissor seven fine quality animation".

You left then but you put flat mediums which were not good before my scissor seven".

What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt?
