Pretty sure it's the Knicks using those crappy 1st round picks that will probably turn into 2nd rounders.

Hopefully people can read through that but will probably think we turned down three unprotected picks that will all be 1st overall lol.

I mentioned this in another thread but this really doesn't tell us much in terms of value.

If the picks project into the 20s, or if they convert into 2nds if they aren't conveyed, the offer isn't very good.

We need to quality over quantity for guys like OG/Siakam.

Pistons pick protected top 10 until 2026 and then turns into a 2nd
Wizards pick protected top 10 until 2026 and then turns into a 2nd
Mavs pick top 10 protected until 2025 and then turns into a 2nd.

From the knicks. I wouldn't mind it tbh bc I do think when all is said and done you'll get 3 late lottery picks or mid teen picks,

I thought the draft was a crapshoot, whats the problem with late 1sts? Or early 2nds?

RealGM Wiretap gives no source, beyond saying "Bruce Arthur" of the Sun. But he's not saying it on twitter. All I've seen is some rando's IG post. Do we have a real source for this?

Here is the original article:
https://www.thestar.com/sports/raptors/opinion/2023/01/23/its-time-for-the-raptors-to-truly-embrace-the-tank-there-are-many-ways-to-finish-the-job.html

You want to move one core piece? You have four available, and the differences in potential return between Gary Trent Jr., VanVleet, Anunoby and Pascal Siakam range from minor upgrades to a bejewelled haul. You want to become Oklahoma City, with draft picks in bunches? At least one team has previously offered three first-round picks for Anunoby, and Siakam is worth more. Trading both would be a near-total reset around Scottie Barnes.

I believe that we should keep OG unless the offer is stunning. OG imo is more integral to keep than siakam, the only more valuable asset is Scottie. OG and Scottie are on the same timeline (or close enough to) that building with both makes sense. Get the highest value returns for FVV GTJ and Siakam and rebuild this dumpster fire

They won't be in the 20s tho. Its very unlikely the Pistons will go from bottom 5 to top 10. What's more likely is by the time 2026 comes, they'll be trending up and one season we will get a pick in the 10-15 range. Same w the Mavs. That roster is not going to be top 10. its going to be a teen pick.

The wizards? They might be bad until 2026 w how they draft but I'd still doubt it. They picked #10 this year and will probably be around that range again this season. I think you end up with 3 late lottery picks tbh

Which is why I'm not too excited about Memphis' picks either, despite what some are suggesting. Memphis is already a good team, and on the rise. Netting a bunch of picks from 25-30 isn't a good return either.

If we want picks, it needs to come from a team that has no idea what they're doing, like Washington or Portland. Or a team that's on its way downhill like Phoenix. New Orleans is the rare case of outsourcing its tank via Lakers goldmine of a pick (they wont trade it)

Would like to see what happens with other players before they even think of trading OG. After Barnes, he's the last guy I'd want to trade.

Tankers are breaking out the lotion.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

i mean depends on the picks. I don't want those extra picks that the Knicks have because they are basically guaranteed to late first if they even ever convey.

I would need atleast one guaranteed top 10 pick.

Three firsts sets the market. I would think he is equivalent to Dejounte Murray. Spurs got:

Danilo Gallinari
2023 first-round pick via Charlotte Hornets
2025 first-round pick via Atlanta Hawks (unprotected)
2026 first-round pick swap via Atlanta Hawks
2027 first-round pick via Atlanta Hawks (unprotected)

OG is signed for a couple more years, so I'd want unprotected firsts like the Spurs received. I could live with three firsts, if OG actually brought back a viable young player as well. The Spurs getting Gallo was not that helpful, and I would think Toronto wants a player back to play now.

/edit The Pelicans can give us that 2023 LA pick swap, their own 2023 pick, and a 2025 pick plus we can ask for Daniels or Murphy III plus Graham. That seems like fair value.

I’m guessing it was Portland who made that offer.

This is a complete lie. Those picks belong to the wiz, Mavs and Pistons. All top 10 protected until 2026. I doubt any of those teams will be top 10 in league. And if they are they won't jump from where they are now, to top 10. We will get picks in the 10-20 range.

I'd much prefer those picks over the grizz bc all the grizz picks will be in the 20s
