You don't get drafted in the 1st round based only on production. Otherwise, tell me why Drew Timme and Oscar Tshiebwe didn't get drafted last year? Neither is projected to get drafted this year either.

It's very hard to get drafted when you're 23 years old on draft night. To do it, it takes more than just production and a motor.

Jackson-Davis went back to school because he wasn't projected to get drafted last year. What has he done to improve his game this year? I think maybe his passing a little bit and he's doing a little more grab and go stuff. But he's also a year older now. I've got him ranked #60 on my board at the moment.

hence the reason i explained how he gets his production and you ignore the fact that he's an explosive athlete. in other words, it's not just about the production, but combined with his athleticism and motor - again there is a place for that player in most nba rotations.

athleticism goes a long way when combined with production and motor. tjd is an excellent run/jump athlete. timme? lol. tshiebwe isn't on tjd's level as a scorer and tjd averages three times as many blocks as oscar which speaks to another level of skill and athletic explosiveness.

TJD's athleticism/explosiveness is good but not as good as you seem to be implying. And he had the same level of that last season and he wasn't projected to get drafted then - which is why he returned to school. So it's not like something new he just added this season..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Ya I watched it. Doesnt look good. At first was hoping it was just a normal turn of the ankle, but sadly that wasnt it.

Here is the video of it

There is a slight turn of the ankle, but not much. Definitely not enough where you would see an ankle turn. Sadly it looks like it maybe a lot more serious. Even during the game you could hear it in the broadcasters voices when they were bringing it up throughout the rest of the game.

brutal, just such terrible luck for this kid this year, first the foot fracture, now this. not hindsighting this, but I was here saying he should've left the team already before playing a single minute for Scheyer.

It’s fair to hind sight. If you are a projected top 5 pick you should pull a wiseman and not play after like 4 games. You guarantee yourself $20m+

I really have no idea why more of the top guys don’t do this

It's a cowardly thing to do, and it speaks to your lack of competitiveness if that's the route you take. Plus, if I'm a GM I'd just reference Wiseman whenever a guy does that. He's not exactly a success story outside of that rookie contract.

crazy to think, had he just sat out the season, he's pretty much a top 10 lock. now, he probably has to go back to Duke otherwise, especially depending on the injury, he's not even a FRP.

"Competitiveness" nonsense...DWH just jeopardized his future for a clown coach that had no idea what to do with him.

im sure all that "competitivness" is doing Shaedon Sharpe well at the NBA level right now

Completely off topic just had to bring it up. The Duke game last night had one of the craziest no calls Ive ever seen. With 13 seconds left in the game a VT player makes a basket to put them up by 2. In his celebration he does the in air punch celebration. Well as he does that he turns and punches Filipowski straight in the throat. Ala Ron Artest celebrating and hitting Harden in the head with his elbow. This leads to Flip slowly dropping to his knees then throwing up on the sidelines. Yet with the Artest situation where he get ejected, the VT player didnt even get a foul called on him. They said no foul because it wasnt intentional...

I guess Im just used to the NBA where even the slightest contact above the shoulders is considered flagrant 1. But ya crazy haha.

Difference being that Sharpe reclassed. At the age they are, you can't afford to not develop with a year of 0 game reps. Skipping out on a year of high school basketball is different than college or G League.

Ya I was dumbfounded by it. Dont get me wrong, I obviously had an emotional investment in the game haha. But Ive watched enough basketball knowing that excessive contact above the shoulders is an automatic Flagrant 1, intent doesnt really matter in a Flagrant 1.

When I heard them say it was deemed incidental because it was celebratory, I was taken back haha.

But ya I guess to tie this somewhat to being relevant for this page. Flip had a strong start to the season, then had a rough 7 game stretch. But damn his last 4 games have been very impressive. 23/13 with 1 assists, 1 steal and 1 block on 46/35/76 shooting in that stretch.

Dont know how high he can climb in the draft, like I dont see a team taking him in the lotto because I think he is position locked at the 5 in the NBA. And if that is the case, I dont see any argument for him in the lotto.

i wouldn't call Flip positionally locked imo, he's not a super versatile guy but he can play 4 in the NBA in certain matchups and lineups.

i actually think he's a pretty solid prospect, just wish he had a little more oomph to his game, maybe a bit more passing chops so he can run some inside-out offense for you or if he displayed a bit more force on the defensive end in terms of shot blocking. otherwise, wouldn't mind spending a top 16-22 pick on him for a team looking for a scorer/stretch big type that can rebound for you.

if you look at the raw production it's great for a FS (or anyone really), per100 poss the guys averaging 33/20 and decent efficiency numbers throughout.

This is the thing, Im just not sure on this yet. Im not in love with his lateral movement and I dont know, but Im willing to admit being wrong on this aspect. Now if he can, then ya his stock rises for sure in my book. And I also agree 100% I really wish he had either passing or rim protection to his game. If he had either one, even if he ended up being position locked I think he would be worth the risk.

I dont know, I love watching him at the college level, the dude has been the only bright spot when it comes to anything with Duke this year. There are just some big question marks I have with him on the next level. I definitely can see him going late first, just dont know how high he can climb with the question marks that he has.

the projections about him being top 5 were laughable and those "scouts" should be called on it. Sometimes they get it dead wrong and this is certainly one of them.

how tf you gonna flex nuts about Bronny making the all American team then 5 mins later downplay a dude who was one of THE best HS players in his class who also WON MVP OF THE ALL AMERICAN GAME.

this level of inconsistency is a hallmark of someone that just doesn't know what he's talking about. are u that person?

I posed this question on the Raptors board and got varied results. How would you rank these prospects games for the NBA level. I ask because most seemed mocked within a few picks of each other, play a similar game and none stand out defensively.

1. Brice Sensabaugh
2. Jett Howard
3. Max Lewis
4. Gradey Dick
5. Terq Smith

I'm really thinking Jett has serious potential at the next level with his creation, handle and passing potential.

1 Sensabaugh - some star potential
2 Howard - shooter/scorer (e.g., Tyler Herro, Klay Thompson on offense)
3 Dick - knock-down shooter with size (has tremendous value in today's game)
4 Lewis - 3D wing with some self-creation and playmaking; however, it may not all translate against NBA defenders
5 Smith - floor-spacing guard with some 3-level scoring; likely has high usage on a 2nd unit
