Yeah, he's like the Brogdon of DeRozans. Great defender on the college level, how will it translate to the next level?

6'9 dudes with his handles and shooting ability don't grow on trees. Lot of other concerns obviously, but I'd probably feel pretty comfortable taking him anywhere outside the lottery.

Bates is scoring at a crazy inefficient rate on the last place team in a garbage conference. Has a nice 1/2 ast/TO rate as well.

But yea, blow a draft pick.

I wouldn't be shocked if he slips to the second round, especially with some off-the-court issues. I think he'd bring a nice scoring punch off the bench for any team, like a microwave-type of guy. Hardly blowing a draft pick if you're taking a swing in the second. He'll never be KD like some people thought he was going to be heading into Memphis (that was nonsense), but his scoring and shot creation are things every NBA team could use more of.

Competition obviously isn't great but I certainly wouldn't call a 20+ PPG on 57% TS college scorer "crazy inefficient" either. I think part of the appeal is that he's still incredibly young (18-year old sophomore). Like, if I'm a rebuilding team with an extra 1st round pick in the 20-30 part of the draft. Why not?

Plays like he's 6-4 and has no playmaking ability. Negative wingspan, tiny hands. If he was actually 6-4, he'd have no buzz, but he is functionally 6-4.

Wild that they'd bring him in, he'd score like this, and they're worse than they were last year.

So I haven't watched college basketball at all, but just looking at the Ringer's draft guide and Zach Edey isn't one of their top 30 prospects? I find it hard to believe he won't be a solid piece in the NBA.

Have we talked about Jarace Walker at all? I'm punting on evaluating the Thompsons because it feels like work, but I think Walker is right there after Wemby and Scoot, and he's closer to Scoot than Scoot is to Wemby.

Big frame, nice handle, smooth, versatile all-around game. Very interesting prospect. Might be higher on him because I see him as an obscenely good fit for the Bucks.

Still seems like a end of the first type of guy to me. Not sure I'd rate him much higher from the little i've seen for the reasons you stated. Think if it was 2002 he'd be a lotto pick

Missouri vs. Utah State: Kobe Brown and D'Moi Hodge for Missouri. Brown is a big wing 3/4 type whose shooting has exploded this year and sees the floor well; Hodge is a super long guard defender with great anticipation and he's also having a great year shooting it. Ashworth for Utah State is not a pro prospect -- he makes AJ Green look like Jalen Green -- but he's one of the best shooters in the country.

Virginia vs. Furman: Beekman is my guy even though my confidence in his offensive development is waning. Furman's got a possible pro in Jalen Slawson, do-it-all super senior forward. Slawson might not have the quickness for the next level but he's long, skilled, and smart.

Texas A&M vs. Penn State: PSU's Pickett is a 3 level shotmaker who operates a lot like Jrue offensively. Runs some pick and roll and can shoot off the dribble but seems to really prefer working with his back to the basket and using his body to create space for short jumpers. It'll be interesting to see how they match up, because Wade Taylor for A&M is super quick and slithery, but small. Excellent shooter and uses it to open up lanes to the rim, where he's not at all contact shy despite being short and skinny. There will likely be some cross matching because it doesn't seem like either one could guard the other one to me, but they're both fringe prospects.

Duke v. Oral Roberts: Super interesting matchup as Duke is very young as usual, and Abmas is the kind of pint-sized shot creator who has the potential to give anybody issues. ORU also has 7-3 Arkansas transfer Vanover, who has pretty nice touch and uses all his size defensively. Personally think Mark MItchell is Duke's best pro prospect this year but I suspect he stays in school and he's not a *great* prospect.

Arkansas vs. Illinois: 8 v. 9 seed game where both teams are underseeded and have multiple pro prospects. Arkansas has a ton of talent, and Illinois has a ton of experience.
