i was gonna say something about how i hope the team puts the game to rest so pg and kawhi could get extra rest but

honestly i think you let kawhi pick up as much game time as possible for the games he actually gets to play. any extra reps will only reinforce his return to form

lineup is too small right now. Reggie and Powell plus 3 forwards. No bueno. Getting beat up on the boards. Need to trade Morris, Wall, and Jackson.

honestly pretty happy to see PG still out on the court even though he's well past 30 minutes. these guys need the reps!

I never thought I’d see the Spurs become a target practice for contending teams. Must be humbling for Spurs fans. They had one lottery year (the year they lost Robinson for the season and decided to tank for Duncan) since the 90s before the bubble. Also an adjustment for Popovich. But who cares, he’s got nothing to prove.

doing it the hard way but we're slowing creeping closer to the 4th seed. obviously pelicans don't have zion and only just got ingram back so they're gonna re-peak at some point. but i certainly feel a lot better about this team and its chances to go top 4 than i did even as of last week.

still, remains to be seen how the team will integrate wall back into the team (if at all), and how morris is going to affect covington's minutes. unfortunately i still don't trust lue to balance the roster properly, so we'll just have to be patient.

Best stat of the night. 14 assist between Kawhi and PG and ZERO turnovers!

Still a scrappy team even while bad. They pushed this team to a close game a week ago and considering they missed a few guys and on a back 2 back the first half effort was there.

I hate Popovich. Like Brady and Belichick, Popovich is garbage without Tim Duncan.

But yeah, they're not quitting. I think Popovich has to stick with coaching the Spurs at least until they return to the playoffs. He can't leave them like this.

I was never completely out on Reggie and he's proven that he still deserves a spot on this roster. It's up to him and Ty if he should get 10 or 30 minutes.

Kind of feel the same about Mook. I'm not desperate for a trade like with the Bradley-Doc situation, just not comfortable with him being a lock as a starter. Should've been more of a competition between him and RoCo since the season started.

Not to keep piling on Wall, but we seem to be doing pretty well without him. Sure, everything looks better with Kawhi and PG available, but if one of them is out, John isn't plugging that hole.

Really curious about this trade deadline. I know our FO is known for making moves, but wouldn't be surprised it ends up being just an upgrade over Moses Brown.

it's my belief that lue sees him as something he isn't, which is why personally i'm of the mind that he needs to go. a shot-maker doesn't make for good offense, necessarily, and when it comes at the expense of rebounding, defense, offensive flow, and lineup balance, i think you either shift the lineup or move him. and since lue has shown zero inclination to the former, i think he just can't be on the team or it'll limit the team's ceiling by a LOT.

if he were willing to come off of that, then ideally batum would be starting at PF, or kawhi at PF with luke at SG. if going that route, covington/morris/powell/luke/reggie is now a pretty small bench lineup, so things can get wonky but we tend to stagger kawhi/paul george anyway, so not as big a deal. with the latter, now we can safely put out a batum/morris/covington/powell/reggie lineup that's still undersized, but feels a little safer with batum helping. plus three of those guys just want to shoot all the time and luke needs shots, so i'd prefer the latter.

that said yeah i don't see morris not taking his old spot, barring a trade. i mean i'll be honest, i'm not even sure covington would be playing much at all right now if brown didn't get hurt a few games ago. hell, i'm not even convinced that's not STILL the case, and if it were i wouldn't be surprised if brown came back and covington got stashed for the next 10 games. like, that's how much i distrust ty lue as of this moment. sad, right? anyway, what i wouldn't give to snag john collins and fix all of this for us. or FVV. or hart. or conley. i feel like i could keep going but, eh, better not to get my hopes up.

agree about wall: i really hate that he's kinda the scapegoat (one of them anyway) but he just hasn't been very good, and it's not something we can blame on him getting back up to speed. he has speed, he just doesn't have, well, anything else.

hope the FO surprises me. the good news is that when they surprise you, they pretty much blow up your entire world. like, they're planet-destroyers in that regard. so we'll see!

as far as the game itself, i watched it but not with too much intensity. honestly don't think there was much to take away from this game. just one of those games where a really bad team meets a team that's clearly more talented, but the more talented one actually displayed its talent and played not just well but pretty darn well, had a lot of good things going on for them, shot really, really well and that was that.

might sound pessimistic, and i'm not trying to, i just think there's not much to take away from the game, at least from my casual eyes. i will say though this is one of those regular season beat-em-ups that great teams are supposed to dole out on a nightly basis. like one thing i NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER worried about with the cp3/blake/doc teams was their ability to wax clearly inferior teams. and thus far we have not been in that category, so if this type of win means we're getting to that point, then i'll take it.
