Not a good night for the Tank. Bulls shat the bed. But a Detroit and Charlotte win isn't the worst outcome.

I feel like we are just too good to tank legitimately unless we deliberately sell off all our best players which is unlikely.

Best-case scenario is we do another stealth tank while keeping our core pieces and have a killer offseason.

5th is about as good as we can hope for. HOU/DET/CHA/SAS are on another level.

I don't think people appreciate what a great tank opportunity this is with the parity currently. You could have a 35 win season and still finish 5th worst. Do the analytics bros in Raps management understand this? 13 days to make it happen.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

What exactly is a tank? Is it years of rebuilding or a one year of sitting players while keeping key players and drafting high like after Tampa year?

If it's the latter I'm all for giving up this year and coming back next year with a strong young core and high draft pick. If I trade Siakam, I'm looking for a couple of legit young players who will be great starting pieces.

Tank just means we are cheering for losses this year, in order to not make playoffs and get a high lottery pick to add to the core for the future.

At this stage it's pretty clear this year isn't getting this team anywhere unless we think we can make the play-in, make the first round and then win that first round.

Hopefully Warriors play with their full strength lineup. I have 0 faith in this current team, last win changes nothing.

5th or 6th is the sweet spot to move up. since 2019 it's become a bit more random. anywhere in the 5 to 7 range is still tanking gold.

here's the history of the last 20 draft lotteries (since the Lebron draft 2003). I didn't include teams that fell.

1. 2003 - 6th moved up to 2 (Detroit via Memphis )
2. 2004 - 5th moved up to 2 (LA Clippers)
3. 2005 - 6th moved up to 1 (Milwaukee) - 5th moved up to 3 (Portland)
4. 2006 - 5th moved up to 1 (Toronto)
5. 2007 - 6th moved up to 1 (Portland) - 5th moved up to 2 (Seattle) - 4th moved up to 3 (Atlanta)
6. 2008 - 9th moved up to 1 (Chicago)
7. 2009 - 2nd moved up to 1 (LA Clippers) - 6th moved up to 2 (Memphis) - 4th moved up to 3 (OKC)
8. 2010 - 5th moved up to 1 (Washington) - 7th moved up to 2 (Philadelphia)
9. 2011 - 8th moved up to 1 (Cleveland via LA Clippers) - 5th moved up to 3 (Utah via New Jersey)
10. 2012 - 4th moved up to 1 (New Orleans)
11. 2013 - 3rd moved up to 1 (Cleveland) - 8th moved up to 3 (Washington)
12. 2014 - 9th moved up to 1 (Cleveland)
13. 2015 - 4th moved up to 2 (LA Lakers)
14. 2016 - no team moved up
15. 2017 - 3rd moved up to 2 (LA Lakers) - 4th moved up to 3 (Philadelphia)
16. 2018 - 6th move up to 2 (Sacramento) - 4th moved up to 3 (Atlanta)
17. 2019* - 8th moved up to 1 (New Orleans) - 7th moved up to 2 (Memphis) - 11th moved up to 4 (LA Lakers)
18. 2020 - 3rd moved up to 1 (Minnesota) - 9th moved up to 3 (Charlotte) - 7th moved up to 4 (Chicago)
19. 2021 - 2nd moved up to 1 (Detroit) - 4th moved up to 3 (Cleveland) - 7th moved up to 4 (Toronto)
20. 2022 - 2nd moved up to 1 (Orlando) - 4th moved up to 2 (OKC) - 7th moved up to 4 (Sacramento)

*year the draft lottery odds changed to include the top 4 picks.

Lucky #7 has moved up in each of the last 4 years. I'd be happy if we end up in 5-7 range.
