When has Masai ever made a treadmill trade?

Not really because it gave the team better cap flexibility, an extra bench piece and the team won 48 games. We were 31-23 when the trade was made.

And no one drafted in that 20-32 range has set the world on fire.

Masai is perfect and has never made a mistake. That’s why we’re the 6th worst team in the NBA.

This would be the 2nd year with the same core and the season isnt even done yet. Obviously the playoffs last year were a bit disappointing but it was only fair to give these guys a chance due to the injuries so really, this is the first actual season with these guys.
Most if not all players are on good deals, we have our remaining draft picks and won a chip in 2019. Were a team outside the US and not a so called big market team and big stars typically don't want to sign here in Canada(yet).

Raps were fortunate to get a top 4 pick and got themselves the ROY who happens to likely have the most upside.

We're in an amazing position to deal, tank strategically and make room to sign good role players or more. I agree the team could have helped the core with a bench and starting 5 but what would that accomplish? Likely a treadmill anyways and sabotaging any leeway we have with our own picks and force a trade we don't need to make?

Y'all gotta put things into perspective and realize this team is better off than most and other fans and franchises would want to be in our shoes. I agree there's work to do but the FO has put themselves in a position to be flexible and make opportunistic moves which is hard to do in the position and location we are in.

Of course he is. He assembled a All-NBA, All-Star, DPOY candidate, and ROTY within 3 years of winning the championship!!!

Winningest team in the east last decade. Check the batting average vs 1 week sample.

Exactly, this trade didn't moved the needle, we were on pace for 44+ wins.
Instead of trading down, masai and Co could've traded up with that pick.

Oh, before I forget..some rooks in that range:
Kessler, has the most win shares of any rookie
Andrew Nembhard, is a solid shooting guard that can shoot !
Nikola Jovic & David Roddy are nice prospects too.
But I'm fine with koloko. They still could trade for a 2nd and pick him.

If true they aren't trying for OG

John Collins and Zion is a terrible fit. That rumors was probably released by Hawks. OG and Zion is a much better fit

They want Collins to be their Center. Ingram and Zion are the forwards.

Nance is already the perfect smallball C for them.

NOs needs a big wing defender because Ingram and McCollum aren't good and when they run up against elite wings, they will have problems.
