I know this might shock you, but college basketball isn’t the nba. Some players are great in college and terrible in pros. The opposite is also true.

Dariq Whitehead for example is a guy I wouldn’t be surprised comes out of nowhere and puts up numbers in the league.

Orlando should probably sell high on Bol. Ross, Harris, Okeke, and probably Fultz should be moved or not resigned in the near future. You have to see where these picks land in the lotto before making assumptions.

Are you telling me that the shooting of a guy like Brandon Miller or Gradey Dick off the bench wouldn’t help this team?

Cason Wallace and Nick Smith should also get looks. Black should as well.

None of these, mostly freshman, college kids should be looked at as finished products. That’s not how it works. The only thing that should matter is how their skill sets look next to Franz and Paolo.

You either use the picks and evaluate the prospects, or you meet the demands of trading for a legitimate starting caliber guy at 2-3 frp’s + their salary (if they are even available).

The whole idea that drafting players is flawed because of minute distribution assumes the FO doesn’t make decisions for trades. You will have a point if they draft 2 guards/wings and fail to make moves. That’s just not going to happen. Each of the guards happen to show up 1 out of every 3 games for some reason. They aren’t safe from being moved.

They won't trade:
1 ) Banchero
2) Suggs
3) Franz
4) Carter
5) Cole
6) Bol
7) Isaac
8) Fultz

assuming FA won't come and go with 0 players added, Magic today already have 8 set rotation players for 2023-24. Witch leaves whoever they draft in position where seeing floor will be occasional and anecdotal experience.

We, today, have situation where RJ Hampton looked good but they elected to get him out, and Houstan who is playing well in G league, but they can't find PT for him.

Nick Smith has lower TS% it college than Fultz in nba, and you are telling me with straight face that's player who will take his job? Holly molly. Guy looks like every generic bad guard nba 2K creates once you cross in 2030  Even his name is generic

Warriors would sell their both nuts if they can turn back in time and sell those 3 young bums back in times when they held any value. Instad, they have 3 young players that add nothing to a team but aslo waste their roster spots.

Caleb was 38% from the field, 36% from 3. I wouldnt call that "good" and he HAS to get stronger. its okay, he just turned 20 and needs time in the weight room. its good that he looks good in Gleague. but its Gleague, so you take it with a grain of salt. I have heard you criticize other players playing against Gleague competition.

so you cant come now with saying how good Caleb looks in G League like its supposed to mean a whole lot.

RJ is another player that looked lost for 3 years. he has clawed up to 3rd string combo guard? but hasnt shown anything that you would lose sleep over releasing for a better player.

Caleb Houstan took 105 shots in nba total in 30 games.
In G league , over 5 games he took 68 shots.

That's whole my point it's it? You simply can't invest PT to anybody to figure out how good or bad somebody is, if you give him no playtime and even when they do play, they get no shots/touches.

Everybody knows i'm Bamba "hater" for years. But let's be 100% honest, that guy DID improve. And how his PT is going? last 8 games: 8, 10, 12,1,7,20,12, DNP-CD.
SO guy did improve, and it still means nothing for his PT. Actually... he was playing way more when he sucked

I’ve said many times that I’m sure about WCJ’s fit with Paolo and Franz but that doesn’t mean he’s not really good and that he doesn’t deserve a spot in this team. Unless there is a trade for a top 25 nba player, I wouldn’t trade any of those 6. You can’t fall in the trap of overpaying for stars and being left with a shell of a roster.

Everyone else, plus the picks are fair game for me.

The only guys I wouldn't move are Franz and Paolo. That's it.

I trust WeHams talent evaluation and team building. I'd love to know where they rank in those two areas but I'd imagine they are pretty good in those areas.

An interesting research question comes to mind around roster continuity for young teams that draft a star. Once you draft a star how much roster turnover is there by year 2? Year 3? Etc. My sense is that there is a ton of roster turnover once the core is identified.

Time for a post in between the squabbles.

We lost to a better team IMHO. How we measure that statement is up for grabs. We know what our weaknesses are and we are still developing Paulo and Franz. Still 3 very important games coming up during this stretch remaining before I make a firmer opinion commitment on the roster. Otherwise my emotion regarding last night is measured by this gif.....

sounds like an organizational issue. maybe they arent interested in developing him anymore, maybe they see him already gone. that doesnt mean you dont use a pick this year. we are not good enough you turn away talent.

I like this team. If you don’t have completely ridiculous expectations of winning every game and having a star at every position, you might realize we have a pretty damn good thing going. Since getting relatively healthy, this Magic team is the best one since Dwight.
