Jokic hasnt broken through either
7 games from a ship vs 8 games from a ship
neither have been close and people need to stop pretending

Nuggets should be thankful these two teams are in seperate conferences becauses Embiid would cook him in any match up. Embiid made him look like a bench player.
To the OP please Sixers are not a contender. Keep seeing it and it’s always wrong. We haven’t been a contender since Butler and that was with a green Embiid/Simmons and an awful bench.
Our wings are an old retirement age player whose a undersized PF whose worst in the comp at offence and a player that can’t shoot and is just as bad on the other side.

Embiid takes a lot of shots and scores a lot of individual points for himself but that’s not necessarily what you need out of your star player every night. Especially not if your goal is to win in the playoffs.
This isn’t just an Embiid vs Jokic thing either. Embiid is the only superstar player in the nba right now who doesn’t really have any playmaking ability to speak of. And he’s also the superstar with the least postseason success. No matter how great you are individually, if you only have one move eventually the opponent is going to figure that out and start using it against you.

That 18-19 roster was absolutely stacked.
Started 5 was good no doubt, but flawed as Simmons obviously and JJ being two each way liabilities. The rest forget about it was bad in regards to any depth.

Malone sadly did not at all in the second half. They should have done cuts and flare screens with Gordon when Embiid was on him to tire him out but Malone for some reason didn’t make any adjustments. That is what is lacking in Malone’s coaching. He is so slow to make adjustments in game. When you get out coached by Doc during the game there is something wrong. It is not like Doc is like Lue or Spoelstra. Don’t get me wrong Malone is a good coach with a great game plan at the start of games. But his second half coaching sucks
that isnt hiding Embiid, they thought Embiid offered more value roaming around because Jokic took one shot in the 2nd half. If Jokic aint gonna shoot to be an efficiency merchant then why not

I pointed out that Jokic should have made Philly pay for having Tucker guarding jokic. And the point you made actually proved my point thanks. Denver did not adjust Embiid switching on to Gordon. Doc out coached Malone

Simmons averaged 16/7/8 that season while playing elite D.
RoCO, Saric, Shamet, McConnell, Muscala. Not the best but certainly not the worst. All of those players have contributed great minutes elsewhere.

When he got his Nuggets swept 0-4 to the Suns. And that time when AD cooked him in the bubble. That's when.
What was exposed about Jokic there? Exposed means something about player is revealed that can be used against him going forward, like how Hawks exposed Hibbert for example. That is being exposed, no one in the league wants to play Jokic in a series, trust me.
Every1's exposed every year unless they happen to win a tilted but even than it better not be in a bubble or on a team that trades for talent.

On quick glance, he's on a similar level of facilitation with Jayson Tatum.
Last season: JE -> 23.5% assist, 11.3% turnover, JT -> 21.1% assist, 10.9% turnover
This season: JE -> 22.8% assist, 12.8% turnover, JT -> 20.2% assist, 9.9% turnover
To paint him out as a chucking black hole is a little bit harsh. He's improved with reading doubles and not getting trapped so deep into the low post where he can be swarmed. It's why he does so much of his work from the elbow. Not to mention at his absolute summit Joel Embiid is a game changing defensive presence (which, besides Giannis - no other top 10 player can make that claim), it's how even with his playoff rep, he's been a Kawhi/Draymond level floor tilter impact wise.

I think injuries and health are his biggest hurdle, but his two way skillset is as well rounded as any in the league.

1. They were green.
2. Greg Monroe single handily costs us against the Raps.
3. Watch that series again for how flawed the list was. Starters were actually in the positive despite Embiid having his worst matchup and Leonard going Peak Jordan in game 1. Ibaka/Gasol/Siakam/Leonard rotating would make life tough for everybody but to get a free double any time they wanted? Forget about it. Offence turned into 4 vs 5 it’s too great of a discrepancy
4. All those players are greatly enhanced by their surrounding parts by themselves they are so so. They have negatives and positives. Dude the last 4 players are easily replaceable by pretty much any list in the NBA. So just list Roco no need for the other 4
Ask Sixers fan each playoff series our bench gets torched ad nauseam. Gallo for the Hawks basically soloed nuked us lol. Think he only took like 30 dribbles the whole time whereas Harris who is doo doo has to take 30 dribbles to score 5 points on 2/4 shots but it’s doo doo offence.

Don't give me the injury excuse either. He's a 2-time MVP for crying out loud. He should be talented enough to steal a few games.
Wilt was swept in 61.
Kareem was swept in 77 and 83.
Magic and Bird both were swept in 83 and 89.
Jordan was swept in 86 and 87.
Hakeem was swept in 91 and 96.
Shaq was swept in 94, 95, 96, 98, 99, and 07. Kobe was swept in 98, 99, and 10.
Duncan was swept in 01 and 10.
Lebron was swept in 07 and 18.

Embiid has looked great this year because he's found something that makes him more reliable: the mid range, especially off the screen. He kinda struggled against the Nets because that was taken away.
Far better huh? How are we having anyone being "far better" when we are comparing these level of players. Is this the good old, "and it's not even close"?

They were great. The only reason they didn’t go to the finals is because kawhi turned into Christ himself for a two weeks.

Re: Will Jokic get exposed these playoffs, again?
So many people don't realize that basically every great they love or can think of had crappy or dissappointing series', or lost in a non close fashion at some point. The way to not have that be remembered much is to just win later and then people's memories forget the losses, it's not that it never happened.NZB2323 wrote:Optms wrote:UcanUwill wrote:When was Jokic exposed?

I just remember so many times where someone would say something like, "no great would do ____ (insert whatever blanket statement, get swept, have a series like this, etc), then we go and show how they did, then either it becomes crickets or we move the goalposts.

The OP does realize that they could both advance or fail to advance in their respective conferences and the result of the poll question would essentially be a tie, right?

If the premise of this thread is that embiid is so much better than jokic , why haven’t he been able to at least match one conference final appearance . He supposedly exposed a 2-time MVP for crying out loud . He should be able to at least match the exposed man achievement.
