I don't see Vando handling the ball, running, leading fastbreak AND making accurate pass or acrobatic layup. It seems like Vando doesn't have wing like body control, ballhandling and touch.

Yeah, I saw these videos. The problem is that in NBA games Vando handling the ball lead to TOs, offensive fouls, bad passes etc. Also maybe it is just me, but I can't remember Vando finishing reverse layup in NBA game...

I guess the point I'm making is that there's a big jump from G League to NBA. It's not a given that G League success will lead to NBA success. It's good that he has these skills in his bag to keep developing but I'd be shocked if he's using them on a consistent basis right away at this level.

I agree. Lets see how Minott progresses. To be honest after watching draft scouting videos I did not expect him to make 41% of three pointers in g-league and dribble so effortlessly behind the back. At this point I hope he gains 15-20 lbs of muscles in span of 1-2 off-seasons. If his working weight is around 210lbs he will have similar physical tools to Jerami Grant

If you go to the Iowa Wolves website (https://iowa.gleague.nba.com/) and click on a live game, there should be youtube video of the game. I think there is also youtube video of past games if you're interested.

An undersized-ish (6'2") scoring guard who would likely never be able to latch on in the NBA. (I had the same thoughts a few hours ago)

Yeah, but once FVV was also just an undersized undrafted scoring guard in g-league

Fair. It's why I said likely and not definitely. There's always a chance.

Carton is so much fun to watch. Probably my favorite non-Timberwolf in Iowa.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

I don't think he would be any better than Jaylen Nowell. And even floating that name is a stretch.

Remember people, it's a big drop off from NBA to the G League. There are three major areas where you see the drop off: size, athleticism and skill. We've seen how much Luka Garza struggles at this level and he was arguably the MVP of the G League for his time there this year. Carton would probably be "just a guy" at this level.

Sacramento Kings signing defensive-minded guard P.J. Dozier to 10-day contract

https://amp.sacbee.com/sports/nba/sacramento-kings/article270924457.html

Kings coach Mike Brown has been frustrated with his team’s inability to defend and prevent opponents from getting to the basket for points in the paint. Maybe P.J. Dozier can help.

The Kings are signing Dozier to a 10-day contract, a league source told The Sacramento Bee on Sunday, confirming a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Sources said the Kings have reached a verbal agreement with Dozier, who could arrive in Sacramento as soon as Sunday evening.

Dozier, 26, is a defensive-minded guard who has appeared in 105 NBA games over five seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets. He has modest career averages of 6.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists, but he is known as a defensive-minded wing who is capable of guarding multiple positions.

Dozier is 6-foot-6 and 205 pounds with a 6-11 wingspan. He went undrafted out of South Carolina in 2017. He was selected as a G League All-Star in 2019 as a member of the Maine Red Claws, Boston’s G League affiliate.

Dozier signed a two-way contract with the Nuggets in August 2019. The following summer, the Nuggets converted his two-way contract to a multiyear NBA deal.

Dozier tore his left ACL in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Nov. 23, 2021. He was subsequently traded to the Celtics and Orlando Magic as he recovered from injury.

Dozier signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves in September and was assigned to the G League Iowa Wolves, where he averaged 14.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 13 games.

Kings associate head coach Jordi Fernandez is familiar with Dozier from their time together with the Nuggets. Sacramento’s player personnel department has been tracking Dozier’s progress for some time, sources said. The Kings believe Dozier will provide versatility and a good fit at both ends of the floor, particularly in their defensive system.

The Kings created an open roster spot Friday when they waived former UC Davis standout Chima Moneke.

Dozier joins a crowded backcourt that already features De’Aaron Fox, Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk, Davion Mitchell and Terence Davis. However, Dozier has logged 39% of his NBA minutes at the small forward spot, according to Basketball Reference.

While I know some are disappointed by this, I think he was a bit of a contingency in case Rivers didn't work out. He is, so protecting Dozier isn't necessarily as important.

It also doesn't mean he's gone forever.

Garza should make the list, and maybe another Iowan or two

If Minott can defend PF/SF/SF and shoot 3s at league average, our future will be bright as ever, he fits naturally with MCD as and rebounding machine, energetic comboforward.

That makes sense since neither Garza or Moore seemed ready to play last night. I'd like to see Moore, Knight, and Garza get more opportunities with the NBA team, but they need to get some rhythm in order to be effective.

I’m no expert on two-way player rules, but there is a 50 NBA game limit on two way players before a team would have to give them a real deal. Luka’s at 34.

I also should point out that a team needs to convert a two-way player into a legit contract if they want the player eligible for the playoffs. Since MIN already has the legal roster limit of 15 contracts, someone would need to be waived or traded for that to happen.

I'm curious where you found the number of games a player has been on the active roster? Everything I've looked at only shows the games played (which is 17 for Garza). As far as adding Garza to the active roster, I'm guessing that will depend on what happens at the trade deadline. If the Wolves keep Naz, I don't see Garza getting an NBA contract until the offseason.
