honestly one of the worst decisions he made career wise. all he had to do was stay an extra year. he would've repeated; cali wasn't going anywhere.

If we're continuing with the longbois experiment, this would give us another potential OG, a high-risk, high-reward C, and a lottery ticket prospect
I would love that but don't think they do it for Fred especially as an expiring and expecting a big pay day that puts them further into the tax. If they like Gary better, then Kuminga + Wiseman for Gary works too.
i woudn't do fred for kuminga/moody/wiseman; they're all bust potential. maybe if they replace fvv with trent and even then with a lot of trepidation.

That's good enough for me.
Plenty of intriguing prospects in our range.
Do you mean after a trade? They're 2.5 wins back from missing the lottery right now, with a soft remaining schedule. Standings are packed
ya I wouldn't get too comfortable...it's going to be a close race to the finish line....that single win against the Blazers shifted them from the bottom to the top.

Fair. I'm higher on Kuminga than most. I've seen enough to think he can be a good defender at the least even if he doesn't figure out the offensive side. I like his upside with his athleticism and youth. Moody I'm lower on but can be groomed into a 3&D role player. Wiseman I would agree he's likely a bust but just thrown into match salary.

Yeah, our Feb schedule is fairly easy too. If we don't make moves to get worst, this tank can get derailed.

Sellers (Only at Top Price): Toronto Raptors
Don’t expect any moves until right before the deadline from Toronto. They’ve made all their non-Scottie-Barnes players available for discussion, at extreme prices, and will wait to see if a bidding war amps up.
While most have assumed Fred VanVleet gets moved, one longtime executive did mention this week the similarities between this situation and Kyle Lowry.
The Raptors were involved in talks for Lowry when he was an expiring contract, including with his current team, the Heat. But instead the Raptors sat through the deadline and Lowry simply left in free agency later. The lesson, the executive said, is that the Raptors have already set a precedent of accepting players leaving without return if a deal is not in their long-term interest.
There’s also an overall skepticism that any offer will meet the high price for OG Anunoby, much less Pascal Siakam. However, one league non-team-affiliated source did suggest that Gary Trent Jr. might be more likely than even VanVleet to get dealt.

Yeah that cap projections are way off. 2025 is supposed to be a major jump to 171M. The point is still illustrated though. We can't afford to keep everyone if we want to fill out the roster with anything more than min salary guys.
Counterpoint is - we could still duck the taxes in every year but 2024-2025 and keep everyone if we wanted to. Highly unlikely, but possible.
I'm definitely expecting at least one significant trade by the deadline.

Clippers will get Conley. I'm sure the Heat would love to get out from Lowry's deal, but they don't have any expirings other than Reggie's 11 million.

The optics are enough though, them sitting in the crowd.
weren't they also sitting in the crowd at the Blazers game?
yes. they are accompanying the team on the road trip.
With the weather in Toronto, wouldn't you hit that west coast trip if you could?

It’s good if you are a person who thinks this core sucks and needs to be traded

If only the Raps got some return, any return at all, for Lowry.
Oh well.
Lol

At the time I thought that, but now seeing what has happened to Kawhi since then, he made the right choice. He knew his body better than anyone, and winning the championship with the Raps put him in the best possible position to determine his future in the summer he left. He knew his body could give out at anytime and he would lose all his leverage if he stayed one more year and had another injury.
He got the Clips to commit to him fully, including trading away Shai and their future picks for George. The clips have no choice but to double down on Kawhi. He gets LA, gets paid, and an organization that whether they like it or not are tied to him.

Tbh not sure why media isn’t paying more attention to the bulls. They’re in more trouble than we are

The Bulls are a genuine treadmill team with a really uninspiring, mediocre core which needs to be blown up.

because Lavine is making max dollars and Demar is a playoff choker and both are non winning players or elevate others. and their center is trash.
Bulls invested in the wrong players and now paying the price for it.

problem is that none of their players are going to return the amount of unprotected FRPs they want. they are basically screwed.
Just like if the Raptors ever listened any poster that says getting Derozan is a good idea - we'd be in the Bulls shoes.
