Re: Trade ideas
How realistic do we think it would be for John Collins to regain his value with another team?
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Well, he was caught using HGH, so I do wonder... Why did he feel he needed to use it? Was he using other PEDs when he was playing better? etc...
His offensive rebounding is way down along with his 3pt shooting from his best season, which unless the Hawks simply asked him to stop going for offensive rebounds could suggest a physical drop off.

He'd need to be featured more on offense and I think that's a difficult ask for most, but not all teams. He's a minus defender, a meh rebounder, and he doesn't really space the floor. If he's starting next to Miles Turner, you can make it work, but otherwise I have him as the first big off the bench.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Of you're not a plus defender and your three point shooting falls of, it just really impacts your overall value.

Re: Trade ideas
I think he's probably headed to the Suns as part of a three-team trade involving Crowder and the Bucks, but it's worth keeping an eye on.

Re: Trade ideas
My moonshot trade idea is using our expiring contracts to eat Graham and Temple, or Graham and Hayes, and pilfer Troy Murphy III from the Pelicans.

Doubt they would include Murphy but I'd do a trade with them, flexible contacts push some money into next season.jbk1234 wrote:My moonshot trade idea is using our expiring contracts to eat Graham and Temple, or Graham and Hayes, and pilfer Troy Murphy III from the Pelicans.

Is the Pelicans owner having financial problems? Otherwise don't see how this rocket gets out the ground ...

I think Murphy is probably too ambitious, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't just pay us a future first to swap an expiring for Graham, or we could show up as a third team and get something for contributing an expiring. But the Pelicans have $169M in committed salary next season, not including players incoming as a result of the draft or options/Bird rights. They're reportedly looking hard to dump Graham's future money.

With the trade deadline in a week I wanted to offer a few ideas:
I know its been done (Love for Hayward)but Love+Rolo for Hayward+McDaniels+Kai Jones works. I'm not sure they want to move McDaniels but this gives the Hornets some immediate salary relief and $35+ mil relief next season. Jones is a project but with Mark Williams and Plumlee they are pretty set at C. I don't see Jones as a viable player for us this season, but who knows?
Moving Rolo would leave us thin at C, but he is barley playable as is. McDaniels is the price for Charlotte to get off that $35+ mil
So next we try to move a couple of 2nds With LeVert and Windler for Bamba and Gary Harris. Upgrade at C with Bamba being able to hit some 3's, but a bit of a downgrade with Harris on D. If healthy Harris could give us most of what Levert already does. Windler is salary match here.

Re: Trade ideas
Why are we linked to Josh Hart? Does any team really need two Isaac Okoros.

JBB would prefer 3, but Lamar will do....

At any one time, one or the other may be shooting well. Right now it's Isaac, but by playoff time it could be Hart.

When Nance was here, Hart almost signed an offer sheet with us. I think he has a pretty flexible contract so may not be the worst move in the world.jbk1234 wrote:Why are we linked to Josh Hart? Does any team really need two Isaac Okoros.

Hart averages the same number of 3 point attempts as Isaac. Hes 6'5". This is nuts. If we're not trading for guys who can space the floor, just don't make a trade.

This is a team that started Lamar Stevens at the 3.
I wouldn't go after Hart either, just saying JBB wouldn't mind a guy like him.

If anything, Altman needs to Billy Bean JBB and trade Stevens and LeVert away so he can't go max defense all the time.

Do we have any feel for Love and the possibility of him being healthy at some point this season?

The problem is that I have a feeling a lot of it is mental and not just his thumb. He was shooting better immediately after the injury than in January.
But the thumb, the fact that he got called for blocking on his last dozen or so attempted charge draws, that he might be responsible for the team slump... It all adds up, and for a person that has battled depression before, it might take a little while after he's good physically to get right mentally.
