Seeing this doesn’t give me much confidence. His answer's don’t sound like someone who really wants to stay, and is mad about the misinformation out there.

It sounds exactly like OG would respond...just like he responded the same question earlier at the beginning of the season. With the same detached-to-any-drama attitude. OG should be a Raptor for life with Pascal.

Just need to end the madness and trade FVV's usage and ball handling away for futures and focus on the core - Siakam/OG/Barnes (and assuming continued growth, Precious) - and let things fall into place.

Then we can stop worrying about these "too many cooks" problems and tension.

This is why it needs to happen at the deadline. Need that release valve in the locker room.

Is there any argument for OG getting a bigger role? We've tried he sucks at creating. Any playoff team that wants him, wants to have him in a Trevor Ariza/Mikal Bridges/Tayshaun Prince role. Of a lock down shooter/cutter. Like does he think he's gonna get a jaylen brown/Khris Middleton usage somewhere else?

Yeah it's crazy to believe he wants a larger role. I don't think him and his agent are this crazy. If OG gets traded he's getting traded to a team that will lower his usage significantly. He will be a 12-14ppg scorer on a contending team.

Thats the 2nd time I’ve seen us linked to Jalen McDaniels. I’m not sure he’s a guy who moves the needle much.

The only problem: Barnes & Gary cannot defend the point of attack(Point Guards) while OG defends the top wings (with Precious and Pascal). Offensively, it could make sense trading FVV. But defensively, it could create a wider hole. Overall, it would make more sense trading GTJ

OG's comment about the bigger role and how it changes game to game is interesting. I would rather the team have clearly defined roles for consistency. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it's like multiple guys wants opportunities, and we're taking turns handing those out as an ad-hoc way to keep people happy.

In a continuing series: must be nice to have a coach like this.

Hope they're wrong and really have something for Fred.

As the days go by, it feels like we'll be hanging onto FVV  :nonono:

Yeah if anything he's getting the max amount of usage he'll get here unless he wants to go to Detroit or San Antonio lol but non-contenders don't want him because he's more ceiling raiser than floor raiser as a player because he's just not good in a larger role. And there's definitely a slide in his defense thr more energy he uses for offense. Just makes 0 sense to me at all. If it was like "I don't mind the role but I wanna win" I'd understand cause we sorta suck right now. But I can't think of a single teak that wants OG to be a 20+ ppg scorer.

I don't think there will be a meltdown. Should the Raptors do nothing because they are unsatisfied with offers for FVV it would be unfortunate but the offseason isn't far away and the Scottie Barnes era will officially commence with Fred gone, whether or not GTJ is resigned. If we can move Fred, get decent assets and start that era a number of months earlier, it would be ideal. If it doesn't happen, it's not meltdown worthy.

Just moving a usage player like Fred isn't really enough of a change, and the offense is honestly the bigger problem.

Just ball watching on the Warriors side when they played us; it was shocking how often the ball seemed to end up in Divencenzo's hands (even though he'd just pass it again).

Our guys just spend tons of time never touching the ball and watching each other cook, and when it's time for them to go it's often the hardest imaginable offense to pull off.

An offense that sees OG moving more and touching the ball in connector spots and shifting some of those hard ISOs to situations with a defense on it's heels should help the efficiency.

Can't stress enough how bad our half-court offense is for most of the vision players.

Edit:

Even if it doesn't end up with more usage, just the feeling of being involved would likely change perception for players. That was always the refrain for centers back in the day: "feed the big man" who's doing all the hard work or he might stop doing it.

So it's a narrative made up by others not OG.

Amazing how many have run with this false narrative, even if they qualify it with, well if it's true that he's unhappy..

Yeah you're right if the Raptors do nothing at the deadline this board will accept it calmly

Trade OG. Recoup the haul. Precious is ready.
