Whatever team that trades for OG is going to tell him to stand in the corner and shoot threes. The same thing we're saying.

It's just they'd be willing to pay him much, much more when he hits FA. Like, even Ron Artest got traded.

If Fred is not traded, I'm afraid of the contract Bobby is going to give the hobbit.

Both OG and Trent tbh if the offers are good. Make the Vasquez deal keep on giving!

On that front, what decisions the Raptors make in the next 10-12 days are far from certain but moving on from Anunoby could be the most fruitful option the Raptors have if they want to reset their roster and gain a significant return without completely tearing down what they have.

What do they have? Well, through 51 games they have a 12th-place team that seemingly should be more competitive, but lacks rim protection, shooting and depth, and could probably stand to add some extra draft picks in case they do pivot to a rebuild, or — thinking big picture — want to be taken seriously in the pursuit of the next disgruntled superstar who wants to be traded.

There are all kinds of ways the Raptors could go, but each has some potential downside. Trading either Gary Trent Jr. or VanVleet — likely free agents this summer — is potentially problematic because shooting is an area the Raptors are already short (the Raptors are 28th in both three-point percentage and effective field-goal percentage). So trading one or two of your best shooters comes with risk, especially considering VanVleet is the only true point guard head coach Nick Nurse trusts and someone who has played a significant leadership role on the team since he became a rotation regular in the 2017-18 season.

Trading Siakam seems like a stretch, given he’s the team’s best player, is still just 28 and as a late bloomer has continued to improve. At the very least it seems like a move that happens over the summer rather than at the deadline, because it would have to be a significant deal and traditionally moves of that size take place in the off-season when more teams can get involved.

I don't think there will be a meltdown. Should the Raptors do nothing because they are unsatisfied with offers for FVV it would be unfortunate but the offseason isn't far away and the Scottie Barnes era will officially commence with Fred gone, whether or not GTJ is resigned. If we can move Fred, get decent assets and start that era a number of months earlier, it would be ideal. If it doesn't happen, it's not meltdown worthy.

Yeah you're right if the Raptors do nothing at the deadline this board will accept it calmly

I'd expect some very moderate and carefully worded views on Fred VanVleet remaining our point guard

I mean it would only be until the end of the season. Obviously you want to move on from him now but if for some reason they can't find a suitor (which I don't think will be the case and expect him gone) it's not the end of the world.

Now if the organization were to express interest in RESIGNING him, that's a meltdown moment of epic proportions.

All this talent? There are no lottery talent in the main rotation? Otto is out.

Nurse is squeezing blood from stones. Give Nurse a competent bench and he'll get you a contending team.

Hope they're wrong and really have something for Fred.

Every team matchup hunts down the stretch. Some teams just have better players to exploit them in isolation.

My "must be nice" remark was directed more to the "too many folks stuck on traditional lineups" comment. Lue didn't care about that last playoffs when he played his wings lineups.

No huge panics about who's bringing the ball up the floor if FVV isn't here type stuff.

George and Kawhi are even less natural facilitators than either Barnes or Siakam. Don't need to. Just build an offense that suits it.

Yes to Pritchard + McDaniels

Pritchard is a nice buy low candidate.
He can be a very solid role player for us.

McDaniels has upside. He's been impressive this season and continues to improve.

Gross. Would rather extend OG than trade him for Ayton

Would rather keep OG than get Ayton.

The only upside is if OG wants out for sure and we get a starting young center (soft though).
