We need another helper on defense at either 2/3/4 spot who is much more athletic than what he have.... a shot blocker 5 who controls the glass is always a welcome gift.....
any stretch shooters out there available?
backup pg has always been something we need. Sumner is hot n cold, he needs consistency and commitment to a role.

It might be overkill but I genuinely believe the team would be better if they traded for someone who could play at the end of games.
Durant, Kyrie, Claxton are pretty much the only guys I can count being there at the end in a game 7 but who else? I don't trust Ben, Harris, Seth, Yuta and Royce most of the time. Ben hasn't proven he can be trusted especially with his bad free throw shooting. I think John Collins could be that guy if the rumors are true but everything else feels like a copout. Having a consistent closing lineup is what works best and is why I think Ben should be traded

Royce can definitely be trusted and Harris deservers another chance in the playoffs imo.

Re: Trade Deadline 10 Days Away - What Should We Do?
Team NEEDS a big who can play with or without Clax. Roster is crying out for a stretch big that can stay on the floor.
Obviously those guys a rare but that is the biggest hole on the roster.
List of "gettable" guys that may fit that role:
Naz Reid (Wolves prob keep him)
Kelly Olynyck (Ainge prob wants to fleece the Nets *again*)
Mike Muscala (Think he loves OKC)
Isaiah Hart (Do the NYK wanna make BK better?)
Sadly not much of a market.
The alternative is to go small and sign a big wing that can play some mins at the 4/5 next to KD, Clax and can rebound.
List of "gettable" guys that may fit that role:
Kuzma (My fav choice but Wiz FO are delusional)
Kenny Williams (Apparently he wants to be a THunder for life
)
Crowder (Is he even in basketball shape? Plus the Suns want the moon and the stars for him)
J. Collins (Really not sold on his fit and he is prob too expensive
OG (Expensive and injury prone)
PJ Washington (Great get but why would the Hornets trade him?)
No idea what Marks will actually do. Buyers' market is really rough at the moment

Re: Trade Deadline 10 Days Away - What Should We Do?
Ben out for 3 games in a row with "knee soreness" after a rough stretch of games.
Wonder if the Nets are quietly shopping him? Flipping him for Gordon Hayward + filler is selling low but will only get harder to move him if he doesn't get back to Philly Ben, given how large his contract is.

Any trade we can make to get siakim? Ben seth cam Thomas remaining picks for siakim and bad salary match. I think he defends, can rebound, shoot play make and doesn’t need to be a number 1 option on offence. Any chance the nets can do something like this?

If this is what we're looking at we might as well call Lamarcus Aldrige back, his shot is automatic and he can help us rebound. But he's not trustworthy to even play much anymore but we all we need is a little 10-15 minutes from him.
But we definitely need to get another 2 way wing player, we cannot allow the Bucks to get a Jae Crowder and we sit on our hands and do nothing. Joe/Seph/Patty are the same player, one has to go and replace them with one of our needs. I think we'll get someone worthy in the buyout market, who wouldn't want to play with Kyrie and KD and ofcourse it's NYC.

Wolves just went all in on Gobert in an attempt to contend and they're currently in the playoff picture in the West, so I question why Naz Reid would be available in the first place.
Only reason could be that they don't want to overpay for his next contract, but if that's the case wouldn't they want a cost controlled 5 who can slide into Reid's place? that's not something we can offer unless if they really like Sharpe
MIN fan here. The Wolves love Naz Reid, but he is gettable.
Our board is currently divided on Naz’s trade availability. Proponents of keeping him point to the fact that Towns may be out until after the All Star Break, and even if Naz is the difference between winning a couple extra games, that’s huge this year in a tightly-packed playoff race. Naz is also a bit of a leader on the team, a high character guy, and demonstrates how you succeed with hard work. The Wolves are reportedly working on an extension, but I find it unlikely. Naz has labored four years on a Hinkie Special, a minimum unguaranteed deal, and he should go see what he can get in free agency (likely MLE money).
People that say the team should trade Naz point out that Naz is exclusively a center, and with two All-NBA centers in front of him, MIN is the least valuable place for him. When Towns was healthy, Finch split the center minutes between he and Gobert, and when both played, Naz averaged eight minutes a game with six DNP-CD’s or Inactives. Naz is also a UFA this summer, and MIN’s free agent offer to be a third string center would likely be outbid by many teams where he’d be a top back up and borderline starter. Not trading him by the deadline means losing him for nothing. The Wolves also like two other centers on their roster, Nick Knight and Luka Garza, who are both capable to be third string centers and occasional DNP-CD’s when KAT gets back.
Naz’s UFA status keeps his price down, but it’s probably around a couple decent second rounders or prospects. MIN reportedly would like to add some ball-handling, and a strong point-of-attack defender to start with Point-Edwards. Any addition would preferably be able to hit an occasional open three, with Gobert on the floor.

Re: Trade Deadline 10 Days Away - What Should We Do?
You guys probably care about what it could cost. It’s an iffy question, because IF MIN trades him, they have already received several calls, so he’ll go to the highest bidder.
Cam Thomas and a 2nd isn’t an unrealistic offer. I will agree with your OP (fantastic opening post, btw!) that the 2nds BRK owns aren’t particularly valuable compared to other teams’ offers. MIN might prefer future 2nds over current ones. And non free agent destination Minnesota might value the team control of Cam Thomas or Sharpe, but Tim Connelly made his mark as a scout, so we don’t know which individual prospects he would value. I wish I could be more helpful.
Other players that may be on the Wolves trading bock are Jaylen Nowell (sixth man, three-level scorer who has suddenly forgotten how to shoot), and D’Angelo Russell. I hate DLo, but he has been very good lately (most of the time), shooting 50/40/90 for 20 PPG since December 1. This seems to coincide with Finch putting the ball in Anthony Edwards’ hands, so Russell can focus on scoring. He’s a poor defender, but his shooting can win (or lose) you games against anyone, depending on whether Good DLo or Bad DLo shows up. Bryn Forbes is also available (can’t find his shot in low minutes) as minor salary filler, and they have the 2023 NYK 2nd.

Re: Trade Deadline 10 Days Away - What Should We Do?
A trade for Naz is likely just 2nd(s) and/or secondary pick swaps. Given he's on a minimum contract, teams don't need to match salary, though I think the Nets would prefer to trade a player, e.g. Edwards, to free up a roster spot without having to waive a guy.
Thomas does not fit what the Wolves would want. The Nets have the same point of attack defender need that shrink mentions, so there is no real synergy there (I would not trade Sumner & create an even bigger need at PG unless we're also trading for a backup PG elsewhere).

I've been a big Ben supporter. I think he's still a perfect fit next to KD + Kyrie. We've seen some positives even though he's not 70% of the athlete he used to be. And his scoring has fallen off a cliff. Even with all that - we've seen how he helps us against Milwaukee, Boston, Cleveland, etc.
With that said, I think it's easy to forget the Nets were dealing Ben drama for half of last year. It was frustrating for fans but from what I've read, it was just as frustrating for the organization. It feels like the team either thought he wasn't injured or he wasn't giving it 100% to come back. He's already had some hiccups with the team this year (getting reprimanded for not communicating an injury early enough before a game, getting benched in the 4th multiple times, etc.). I think there was some expectation that he would step up with KD out and that hasn't happened.
I think Ben is tough to trade without selling EXTREMELY low. But there is a chance the stars + the coach + the organization are sick of the drama and don't want to deal with that while contending for a championship.

Bad-average defender, inconsistent offense and isn't really a versatile defender.
I don't think Harris deserves anything considering his bad playoff performances and the fact hes gotten even worse after his injury. Joe doesn't really provide anything other than spot up shooting either

At the end of the day, the team isn't playing Ben at the end of games, especially with how good Claxton has been and them not wanting 2 shooting liabilities and even worse free throw liabilities.
Ben is good in the regular season but when teams gameplan for him and the game gets tight he isn't worth keeping considering his enormous salary.

New Nets relevant trade news:
John Collins price is getting lower by the day.
Gary Trent Jr price is basically high 2nd round picks.
Flipping Joe Harris, some 2nds or Cam/Sharpe/Kess, for JC or GTJr would be a really good move imo.

Meanwhile, league sources peg Trent Jr.’s likely trade value at a protected first-round or two good second-round picks, along with a matching salary.

Like most role players it depends in who you're teaming him with & who the opponent is. He's a good defender when guarding up (bigger players). He's not a guy that can keep quicker guards in front of him. If he's on the court with Simmons, who can play bigger on offense but guard the perimeter on defense, yes he's a top 5 guy on a championship team. If you try deploying him as your point of attack defensive guard, he doesn't work.
That being said, in the playoffs you need a quick hook & to ride the hot hand. If Royce struggles, try Joe. If both struggle try Seth. If all 3 struggle, try Cam, Patty or Sumner, but hopefully you never have to go that far.
Playoff rotations shorten to about 8. You have to figure the top 8 for the playoffs will be KD-Kyrie-Claxton-Simmons-O'Neale-Harris-Curry-Warren. I'm very concerned about those last 2 as Curry is a defensive liability & Warren has looked very slow and unathletic after a surprising start. Given Claxton-Simmons-KD likely take on the majority of the "PF and C" minutes, a 3&D point of attack guard would go along way in balancing out the roster.

I didn't realize that Reid was making so little money. He's definitely underpaid imo for what he brings. I'd hope we can make a deal if your GM wants some prospects. Kessler Edwards is another young 3 + D SF that we have that probably could use a change of scenery to get some PT.
It's a shame that DLo isn't working out for you guys. He's a beloved figure here, but I totally understand why he has you guys vexed: the wild inconsistency. Some nights he looks like Superman and other nights he looks like he can't even play basketball.

Been happening all year. Don't get it at all.
He's made like 3 or 4 game winning shots. He's a dog on defense who guards 2 through 4 respectably. Perfect for our switching scheme. And he's been doing a little bit everything with 4 assists a game and running the offense at times.

That’s exactly right - wildly inconsistent. DLo is playing better, but it took him some time to figure out how to play with Gobert. Also, I don’t know if you had this issue, but DLo insists on being called a combo guard, and while he can pass and run an offense, he sometimes struggles knowing when to pass and when to shoot. Now, when Anthony Edwards runs the show, DLo has been able to focus on shooting more, and we’ve had much more good than bad.
The reason he may be on the block though is more of a cap issue than DLo himself. Next season, MIN will be far enough over the cap that if DLo walks, we won’t gain cap space to replace the player, and we’ll lose the salary slot. Since MIN has trouble drawing free agents anyway, just using he MLE won’t replace the talent. Two weeks ago, DLo pressed for an extension offer, but apparently didn’t get a number he liked, so it might mean they have to part ways. To his credit, he’s been a really good teammate throughout the whole thing.
