Shams knows Klutch Klients...so this sounds legit.
Yeah there's been enough smoke around OG. There's gotta be fire now.

What are they going to offer? I have to imagine they will be offering Cam Johnson and at least a first or two. That means we'll be taking back either Crowder or Saric.
I think New Orleans might be able to give us a better package. The have the Lakers first, Dyson Daniels, Trey Murphy and a salary ballast of Graham to create a package.
IMO, unless we'll be sending Crowder or Saric to another team for additional value, NOLA looks like the better destination.

I'm not sure what Memphis gives us that makes an OG trade work.
JJJ, Ja and Bane are the only difference makers but they aren't likely available.
Brooks is probably included in a trade but he is up for a new contract and is really inefficient.
Zaire Williams is interesting but he hasn't really shown much potential.
The rest of their prospects like Laravia, Roddy, Aldama are all meh as trade assets.
Would a package of Brooks, Zaire Williams, Jake Laravia and a FRP enough for OG?

I'd immediately flip Crowder to Milwaukee or who ever offers the most seconds or even a crappy first.

when OG has issues with you, you are not him.

Masai should have the Pelicans at the top of the list. Those young players and their potential look tasty.

Resigning those 2 at those numbers, while keeping the rest of the roster the same, puts us well into the tax next year (by, very roughly, $10 mil). I believe we can all agree that we are NOT going to be taxpayers next year, so something has to give, quite aside from the basketball considerations at play.
We could decline Thad's option, and replace him with a minimum player, but we'd still be about $5 mil into tax territory. Trading OG for young, cheap prospect(s) and picks, with expirings to make the trade work, could solve the problem. A Trent trade on the same basis would give us more maneuvering room, but, in terms of payroll moving forward, trading Fred would seem to put us in the best spot tax-wise. Many would argue it also puts us in the best position roster-wise as well. Though OG would clearly bring back the best return of the 3, Fred should still fetch a very good haul, and would be my top choice for being moved next week.
Raptaurus wrote:Any Phoenix trade will be built on their draft picks. Everything else they give us will be filler to make the salaries work.
They may try to pawn Ayton on us but no way they give us Bridges in return. Why trade an elite defensive talent for another elite defensive talent? The whole reason they would want OG is to quickly retool to compete for a championship with Booker, Bridges, Ayton, and OG being the same age.

I’d rather get picks from the Knicks than do this
