I almost feel like Masai gets annoyed by leaks and pulls back deals when they leak.

Powell

Was he rumoured to be traded like this?

Maybe the idea is to build around Pascal and Barnes, with shooting, defense and a good bench surrounding them + this years draft pick being the next piece.

Yeah true and tbh I’m more inclined to think that’s the route we go with regards to surrounding these two. But that would mean being “buyers” perhaps.

I guess in a way they're buyers of young complimentary pieces to surround both, if thats the route they go. Tbh, surrounding both with Cam and Trent jr is already an improvement on the offensive end. We need guys who are solid defensively but can shoot the 3 at a high rate, which Cam & Trent essentially do (both 40% shooters on high volume). You then maybe look to trade Fred with some young players with upside who can fill out the bench for now. Thats probably the quickest way to rebuild the team while remaining competitive. But who knows, maybe they trade Siakam and tear it all down lol

Yeah it’s hard to call. I think they keep Pascal, which I’m guessing means they don’t want to get too young. So probably not focused on guys like Dyson, but more so win-now type of guys.

Just over a week away..to find out we traded Malachi for a trade exception lol

Dw, we wont be tanking.

It is such a cowardly strategy. Masai won't go that low

“Cowardly” lol

So was Masai a coward in 2021?

That was just a confluence of COVID, Tampa, injury situation they took advantage of.

Start rationalizing about how this season aint a tank either. It's coming whether people like it or not

It's wasn't a tank season, it's an underachieving season. That's seemingly is leading to a retooling.

You joke, but there’s a chance that Poeltl could be involved in a Phoenix deal:

Toronto: Johnson, Poeltl, Phoenix 2023 and 2027 firsts
San Antonio: Saric, Okogie, Phoenix 2025 first
Phoenix: OG

I’ll leave out my thoughts about that package overall but that is very close financially.

It has to be the Scottie timeline if we're moving OG.

Trading OG would be such a step back. Like offensive stars, defensive stars do not grow on trees. I've said this before, without a DPOY or close candidate, no team wins a title.

Yet most of tWo wants to trade away the one piece we actually need to get there one day. I would be shocked, if it weren't so typical.

I've never heard of him before. I'm assuming he's like the Doug Smith/Michael Grange of Phoenix sports?

tWo would much rather trade the 30 year-old stars on the team. But Masai has other ideas.

I like the deal.

Still need a back up 2 and have too many forwards so they would need to make another move.

We don't have any. Which is also so typical, but I tend to expect better from you, sir.

No thanks from POR.

You are obviously curious about OG as you are in this thread. Realistically...I can't see a trade with OG to Portland unless Sharpe is going out. Hart's salary makes it work.

Raptors management don't want Sharp they made that clear since they didn't make the deal at the draft. Ben Math was the guy they wanted but he didn't fall to Portland so no deal for OG

Portland isn't waiting for Sharpe to put together his game and letting Dame age out of the league. The Suns are trying to get Paul his last chance at a championship. All Masai needs to do is pit those two franchises into a bidding war.

most would love to keep him but the smoke is strong on the man wanting out. if he doesn't want to be here and his value is likely at peak, it'd be negligent not to explore trading him especially with his contract expiring at the end of next year. if he truly is unhappy due to role and the team can't appease him by giving him a consistent offensive load, which all evidence has shown is not conducive to success, then it's not really fair to be overly critical of people for their desire to see him traded.

Portland is a win-now team. Phoenix is a win-now team.

The only kinds of moves the Blazers have made in the 5 years are win-now moves (except for trading Norm Powell to the Clippers). Portland fans might value Sharpe but there is no doubt that they would trade him in a second for a guy that can help Dame now.

I don't know why some people believe a 19 year old with an NBA-ready 3 pointer and freakish athleticism is overrated. No he won't help you win now but damn if you give him a year or two...look out. Kid's got the tools to be really really good.

I rather Siakam get traded then OG.

But there's nothing we can do if OG is indeed not happy here.

There were reports made how the raptors didn’t take much of a risk as if Kawhi faltered worst case we got off demars contract.
