He's a decent traditional big man centre, but he's wildly overpaid for that production. Not a player I'd want at $31M/year and climbing.

I think he still has untapped potential. People forget what he did during the Suns first trip to the finals, all while at the age of 22. He has clearly been unhappy with the Suns since they don't seem to appreciate what he's capable of. It's not the first guy the Suns tried to cheap out on.

And what do people think OG will earn during his next contract? It's gonna be close to the 30M mark, which will be pretty damn close to Ayton. We're not in a position of strength so if I'm able to get someone as good as Ayton who also fills a major hole, I'm taking it no doubt.

A Fred package for Ayton i could go for now but,if its something around OG, I would rather wait for the summer when we know where we are drafting and if we could potentially land the 1st pick and draft Victor. I dont see a huge market for Ayton in case we want to offload him in the future if we draft a big.

Lol Ayton is a bad contract regardless of whether Fred or OG is being traded. Stay away from all costs.

Maybe There's a three team trade where the main pieces are:

Raptors get Turner
Pacers get Ayton
Suns gets Fred

I agree it's not great, but the pick and roll opportunities DA would provide for all of our starters is something we are sorely lacking that even when Scottie fills that role we improve. To me, Siakam and Scottie are more High Post scorers and they have playmaking chops. Actions with Pskills and Barnes with Ayton should give people better looks outside but it's a gamble for sure.

I agree in a vacuum DA is a really good option as a pick setter but that is a slight improvement for the massive downgrade we'd have exchanging OG for DA in regards to our biggest need in reliable floor spacing. The upside with OG is also in a different stratosphere than DA and i'd rather just give him his new contract than pay Ayton is max deal already.

DA is a luxury that a team built around Scottie and Pascal just doesn't need man. Precious is giving us similar production to Ayton at a fraction of the price. A package built around CamJo, Dario and picks would be a much better outcome.... even then its a package that doesn't necessarily blow me away either. Phoenix only has their own picks, which will be terrible if they get OG from us.

The only thing I'd add to my argument since you bring up Precious, is that Precious is closer to OG than to Ayton in terms of what he offers to a team. If DA can't elevate the sun's who have good 3pt shooting it's hard to see him elevate the raptors who do not, I get that.

It is really a simple trade of OG, Thad, Khem for Turner, Boston 1st, Cleveland 1st. Those are two late 1sts that I can’t see being a stumbling block. It works for them because they can probably do that same renegotiation with OG next year that they did this year with Turner.

turner and 2 late firsts is... ok. but i would rather go for a more rebuilding type move, if we could get a good pick + prospect from the pelicans i would much prefer that route.

Like in a Theis/Mathurin for OG trade, could you do it without picks, which team would have to give up a pick if they did?
