Who knows what we'll be able to do during the offseason with the pieces we have. The only person who needs to be moved right now is FVV, period.

What if we end up scoring like the 4-6th overall pick and the team that has the #2 isn't as high on Scoot Henderson for some reason. You never know. Suddenly you can move our pick along with an OG and land an absolute stud of a PG who brings everything that FVV doesn't to the table which we are in desperate need of.

There is more flexibility in the offseason to move an OG if that's really the direction they want to go in. It won't hurt when he adds All-Nba defense team to his resume.

Is that good enough to compete in the East?

If somehow we retain Fred and Gary, you are looking at $60m just for your guard rotation (assuming Fred gets $35m and Gary $25m a season).

Ayton $32
Siakam $35
Barnes $7.6
Trent Jr $25
Vanvleet $35

That is $135.6m for your starting five plus all the bench like Boucher, OPJ, Birch, Flynn, Koloko and probably a high salary 2023 first round draft pick. Basically, this is a tax team right away and the thought is that whatever OG brought as far as secondary scoring and elite defense will be offset by Ayton who will protect the paint and score off putbacks and hookshots.

To me that is a treadmill team like Chicago who has Vucevic, but at least he shoots threes. Toronto lacks shot creation, and I would be concerned about the defense, and the offense will be messy. It just seems like a weird jumble of pieces. If they go that direction, it is just a matter of time before Siakam is traded.

Ayton and CamJo for FVV and OG. We'll throw in this year's pick.....that work for you guys?

I want no part of Ayton. Maybe a few years ago when our culture was stronger, but I’m not moving guys out only to bring in a guy who has been a locker room issue.

Ya because they've solidified our Center position, which isnt our worst position on the court BY FAR or anything lol. I like Precious and maybe Koloko becomes relevant in the nba one day but relying on a dude who is G League material at the moment is foolish.

This was like saying we didn't need Fred during the Bench mob because we had Delon and Lowry ahead of him. Stockpile talent and let their play dictate what happens.

Yes, let’s bring in one of the worst rim protector (Ayton) to a team that has no rim protection and have him play 36 min a night instead of giving Koloko the time to develop

Look at the names ahead of Embiid so there is more to rim protection than whatever or however this metric measures.

No one's calling Ayton a DPOY candidate but he still does do a lot of good. Just having his bulk and rebounding would improve us on the interior.

Management thought Baynes bulk would help. I don’t trust our front office in evaluating Centers. They got very lucky with Gasol being available. If they actually think Ayton can help this team, then i have no confidence in this management group anymore. The only team that wanted to sign Ayton in the summer was Indy. No one wants Ayton at his price tag.

Stockpiling guards with potential and low cap cost is one thing. Saying you would stockpile a 30 Mil big who cant shoot and is not a premier defender is just insane. Ayton does not work on any team unless you have 3 to 4 sharp shooters who move and cut. Even with that, in the playoffs Ayton is easily targeted and eventually has to hit the bench. I wouldn’t even pay 20 Mil for Ayton let alone 30 Mil +

I realize I'm in the minority here but I see Ayton differently. He has produced in the playoffs when they went to the finals but has been disgruntled since the Suns started penny pinching him even though he ended up with the same contract he wanted from the start.

I think there's untapped potential there as he's only 24. There aren't many players who I can see being available for OG so I'd love to plug a major hole at the same time.

I can pretty confidently say all things considered (on court, cost to acquire, future cap implications etc) for the Raptors I'd rather go get Bamba than Ayton.

Roughly same age. Both have questions about attitude and effort. Ayton's cost-certainty is not a benefit. I like Bamba's defensive and shooting potential over Ayton's traditional bigman game for what the Raps like to do.

You cant stockpile maxed out players. There's only room for 2 or 3 of those guys and in the famous words of Scottie B, Ayton ain't him.

If Ayton was making old VV money (almost nothing), it would be a different argument but he doesn't, he already makes star money and he's not close to a star.
