OT: Breanna Stewart signs with New York

Post#1 » by azcatz11 » Wed Feb 1, 2023 10:16 pm

They are calling this the new Big 3 and she’s already said don’t chirp her for tickets…apparently sold out. Pretty cool to see the league getting a lot of notoriety

Former MVP Jonquel Jones in NY now too.

And Candace Parker went from Chicago to the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.

Lots of movement this off-season. Gotta think those 2 teams are the favorites. Should be a fun season.

I was feeling pretty good when we signed Parker. But having them add Stewart on top of Jones is formidable, for sure.

As a lifelong Liberty fan, I am over the moon. We now have three of the best players in the league. I can't wait for the season to start.

Ignoring the misogyny ITT and would advise everyone else to do the same.

Is this the first time we’ve seen two big “super teams” like this in the WNBA?

It's unsurprising to see the children embarrassingly stumble over themselves to learn women play professional basketball.

Seriously, grow up.

I know you think the responses are juvenile, but it brings up a good point about the WNBA.

The WNBA has an image and a marketing problem. As someone who grew up watching women's college basketball in the 90's, I could easily identify the female stars during that era. Now, I have no idea who these players are. The product isn't good enough to get me to care, and I think most basketball fans feel that way.

Most people tend not to say anything about things they don't care about. But here, there's a history of the same people making the same tired and misogynist jokes to fish for And-1s. All while not giving the WNBA a chance and dismissing the sport altogether just because women are playing in it.

that's probably true, although the wnba makes themselves an easy target. it's like they refuse to accept that the product isn't good and the players and the league are unrepetent about it. the way they run that league INVITES HATERS. that's just my 2 cents.

As someone who’s gotten into the wnba last couple of seasons, there’s so many superstars to follow and Breanna Stewart is one of the biggest ones.

I still don’t follow enough to be familiar with each team, but get to know a few superstars and follow them and it’ll be enough to be at least a casual fan.

If women wanna get paid as much as men, they should start going to the games instead of nails and beauty salons.

That's how it works.

Same awful jokes smh

The league isn’t perfect, but it gives these girls a dream to strive for and that’s something that shouldn’t be dismissed. I think the games are fun to watch but I’m an absolute basketball junkie. I used to coach YMCA and it wasn’t always pretty, but seeing people/kids play the sport they love is worth it imo

Definitely not sold out. I'm also noticing that you can't purchase tickets to the upper sections like you can at an NBA game. Is that normal?
My opinion may not be your opinion or their opinion but I have it.
