I honestly wouldn't even take that contract on for free at this point.

He would be good in another environnement, which is why other franchise are interested. The only downside in his contract is the PO on the 5th year. Its kinda hard to shine with now two ball hogs in the backcourt...

Depending on what PJ demands, i would easily try to work on a S&T with the Hawks (for a swap, not saying i would pay for it). Collins has size btw...
That being said, all depends on PJ's expectations. No way am i paying PJ Washington even 20M/y on a multiyear contract.

Collins looked like an easy 20/10 guy at one stage, then he’s gradually phased out.

I’d consider it if not overly costly, he needs a fresh start

Depends on what we're doing with Bridges. Think he's fairly redundant if we do bring Miles back. I'd probably trade Hayward and DEN pick for him even if Bridges came back and just recreate lob city with forwards. If no Bridges, I'd offer PJ.

He's good, just gotten phased out in ATL

I think Collins is a sensible buy low, I like his fit with LaMelo and think there's some good indicators he's just had a down year.

I actually worked with a Hawks beat reporter to do an article about Collins a few weeks ago, the asking price in my mock negotiation was a lot less than is being reported elsewhere: https://www.si.com/nba/hornets/news/john-collins-charlotte-hornets-trade

Collins has played 54, 63, 41, 61 games the past several years. Seems to have injury issues, in which case I'd pass on him. Keeping PJ @ 15-18M per year is better than Collins 25m per year for half a season.

Hornets apparently interested in Bones.
What would that trade look like? I assume they want win now players.

Mason for Bones + filler?

Not sure he is profile of player I would target. Just another Oubre.

Am I blind or do the Pelicans not have anyone named Claxton? Maybe meant Jaxson?

I'd pass on it. Seems the main thing is getting rid of Rozier's contract. But he + Nick are the best players in the deal. And Graham's contract is pretty bad too.

Bones doesn't meet the most basic requirement to be a good fit with Melo.

Denver are dumping him because he is a terrible defender. He also shoots below 40%. Can find guys like that in the G-League. Or let Bryce play more.

Right, I don't understand it all why we would be interested in him. Sure, we need 3-point shooting, but other needs are more important.

Denver probably wants their 1st back. Doesn't make sense from our perspective.

Although, if we trade for him, we'd have the most metal team in the league between Plumgoth and Bones.

What is it with Mitch wanting offensive gunners around LaMelo?

Get a damn defensive guard! LaMelo needs a Jose Alvarado, not a Bones Hyland

Im guessing Denver wants to swap Bones for McDaniels. I thought about this trade yesterday because it made some sense from a contract perspective for the Hornets, but unless you guaranteed me they weren't bringing Miles back and were definitely going to trade Rozier, I don't see any need to add another offense only player (especially at guard).

I'm way more open about trading McDaniels since he is unrestricted. Id take neutral value instead of demanding an overpay, unless they know he wants to stay, in which case I still see no reason not to keep him. I couldn't find a trade I liked that worked for him, but trading him for another developing player who is still cost controlled for more years makes theoretical sense, but I couldn't think of a deal like that for him that I liked.

Bones has a pretty good upside, but damn he is a trainwreck defensively.

I totally understand surrounding Melo with an arsenal of shooters. He's lethal at creating open looks for shooters. It's just that I'd be targeting 3D types, not just Terry, Oubre clonesis Bones better shooter of dribble or catch?
