If you want to speculate, the Knicks benched RJ at about the same time as the OG stuff with Nurse came out. Nobody knows why yet either, he skipped the post game presser.
Might be something, might be nothing.

I think Siakam should be traded before Fred and OG. Scottie and Siakam don't do well together because neither can shoot 3s, Scottie is the guy to build around. Siakam gets you more than anyone else...I'd trade him before OG.
That being said if you're trading Siakam you may as well trade Fred and OG too.

why? He's not good enough to be guaranteed a starter spot. Thats enough reason to bench him

yeah, I think you have to look at moving all of them. Doesn't necessarily mean any or all of them get moved before the deadline, but you see what's out there. O.G. probably could have stuck around if we were going to go young, but maybe he wants out anyways.

Moving Siakam is an entirely different thing from Fred, OG, and GTJ. You would need to build around Siakam if you were trading for him so likely not something that happens during the season, but makes way more sense during the offseason. They may try to see what the team looks like with Barnes and Siakam at the helm, but totally see how Siakam might want to be on a win-now team.

This is probably something and just scares me to death. Masai and Bobby think this is a good PR move. Replace a Raptor favorite with a local kid and call it even. We need picks more than no defense Barrett. I like Barrett too but you have to hide him on defense.

It could totally just be Thibs for that game. But, if it's him missing this game...that's probably something else.

As if Masai will make a move for positive PR. He's way above that in terms of clout and stability.

Re: Trade Deadline Rumours & Discussion Thread II
A minor move I ponder would be Gary Trent Jr. for Christian Wood. Toronto loses a shooter but a stretch big like Wood might be interesting. He is expiring and I am not sure of he is a problem for coaches, but he could fit here.
I'd rather get a player than two seconds for Gary I'd we are moving off him.

@Mods
Would it be possible to start a thread that just houses tweets/news and no replies? Really hard to follow what's actually happening in the current threads.

If they offer him up, he's still a former top three pick that could have went first overall in a normal year. The talent's there, they might just give up on him early.

Did you watch the game? This was the Laker game and he was awful. Thibs benches him more than a handful of times because of his bad first halves which carry over. You essentially know if you're getting a good RJ or bad RJ by the end of the first half. It was a deserved benching. Nothing to do with us.

I honestly dont get any hype around him. He's not good and is objectively overpaid and hasnt improved since his sophomore season. He's a below average starter who specializes in nothing and is a jack-of-all average type

Agreed and it's a good idea. I'm not entirely sure how we would manage it though. People will still reply and there's no way to lock a thread but allow a specific user to make the updates (other than a mod).

Correlation might not mean causation. He could have just been playing bad, and the call to bench him came in. that's why I'm waiting on tonight's game to see if he's sitting.

Re: Trade Deadline Rumours & Discussion Thread II
Pelton and Zach Lowe went over some trade deadline possibilities. Pelton suggested the Suns should aggressively pursue Fred as Paul's replacement considering they have a good core in place to compete already.
They talk about the Raptors in depth around the 15:30 mark of the podcast.

In terms of fit I think Siakam would be incredible next to Jokic. Denver would then have a hole at guard though so FVV + Siakam for Murray + filler and multiple picks? Murray is having a down year relative to his last healthy season, but it's still the 2nd best year of his career.

why would Fred be a perfect fit for that team? lol CJ does what Fred does on offense but better. Pelicans do not need another small player and with FVV being worse defensively now it makes less sense.
You are not going to maximize them as you can't play CJ/FVV/BI/Zion together much on defense. O.G is a much better fit for them. Pelicans will be an elite offense because Zion is a world destroyer with BI complementing him, they need someone to replace Herb defense and (spacing issues).
