It looks like the Knicks picks for OG are pretty well protected (top 10, 14, & 18 protections). Still crazy to me just because of the opportunity cost of losing those picks for a different future deal. I do kinda like the idea of OG in NY tho the Knicks would have a blue color, grinder vibe.

I think he’ll be easily better than Randle and his advanced metrics already show more scoring, playmaking, and defensive potential. Eye test he blows Randle out of the water. His size, fluidity, and ball skills reminds me of Lamar Odom.

Gonna stay awake for Clippers/Bucks....This one should be good. Jrue made the all star team. Happy for him.

He reminds me a bit of Tim Duncan. He does so much well.
Also he is a much better athlete than Jah ever was.

His FT rate is awesome and he’s shooting a good % from the line. I think he becomes a league average 3pt shooter in a couple years. I could very easily see him averaging an efficient 25-27 per game at his peak.
The form on his 3-point shot is very promising: smooth, high and quick release. If he has a work ethic, that shot could be more than league average. It could be unguardable with his length and ball skills.
Even if he develops a more willing trigger from three, I think that merely just makes him Julius Randle. He's still a garbage defender and must play the frontcourt position because he's too heavy play anywhere other than PF or C.
The problem with Randle isn’t that he has to play PF, it’s that he’s undersized there. Banchero should be able to defend well at PF, if he works at it.
The other problem with Randle is he’s kind of useless without the ball in his hands. It’s the old Simmons problem. Watching Banchero, he’s pretty comfortable cutting and spacing.

Sorry but which advanced metrics shows more scoring, playmaking and defensive potential?

Yup.
Useless without the ball.
Inefficient with the ball.
0 at best on defense.
But I think Banchero has more upside and I think we dont have enough sample size to make a final judgement about him at this point.
He’s just nowhere there with Luka and Zion.
He’s more of in the same tier with Jalen Green, Cade Cunningham and Wagner.

Scoring - FTr, generate similar PPP on isos to current 28 year old Randle, & shooting 71% at the rim vs 65% career avg for Randle
Playmaking - higher AST % than pre-Knicks Randle w/ lower TO % than Randle’s ever had outside of this year
Defense - higher stock rate than Randle’s ever had
Some of the differences are marginal so could just be sample size but his statistical profile is far more encouraging than Randle’s early career imo

Re: Around the League: 2022-23 Season 3.0
Banchero is a really bad shotblocker and he's actually pretty substandard on the defensive glass for a guy that's going to have to play 5 pretty quickly into his career.
He's 250 pounds as a 20 year old. When he's like 25, he'll be pushing 265 just from natural physical maturity.
He's a huge defensive liability and he might not ever shoot league average or better or with any volume.

Hi Kobble,
I think Mark Williams will have one of the biggest breakout among this year’s rookie crop. He also is logging insane stock/per 36 numbers, he has really good skillset on offense that is paired with really good athleticism and league best standing reach.
Im not a fan of bigs, but ironically im here following both Kessler and Mark Williams as up and coming young players in the league

I think Pistons will be really bad with Cade, Ivey and Duren.

Yeah, Williams impressed me whenever I watched him at Duke. Insane length and really solid in rebounding and rim protection. I'll be interested in seeing if he or Kessler can develop an extra trait to take it to the next level.

Crunch time. Clips.. bring down the ball, call for screen and pull-up. This is why i hate them. They need a guard. Celts realized this in the finals last year

Isn’t Banchero (my comp pre draft) Pistons Griffin or am I missing something? Banchero when he matures will have a very similar game imo.
Randle is doo doo with ball making decisions.

Cade's shooting and foul generating haven't translated to the NBA level yet. Same thing happened to D'Angelo Russell. And like Russell, some athletic limitations and questionable love of basketball might be a factor in why he's lesser than he was in college. I hope Cade turns it around because he was an elite prospect.
Ivey is what he is. Ultra athletic and aggressive scoring G with okay playmaking. Not sure if he's skilled enough shooter to want running your offense, but it's the choice they made. Just have to hope he works hard and becomes a league average shooter.
I like Duren better than Kessler and Williams. Better playmaking upside.

They definitely need a point guard. John Wall isn't it, Reggie Jackson can't do it either. Bucks locked em down to end that game. Very impressive.

Not a fan of all 3. Altho I like Cade’s game but his shooting scares me. If Cade shooting improves, I’d be looking to ship Ivey and Duren for a better partner.

I think his upside is a longer, better playmaking Melo. He seems a much more fluid natural scorer than Griffin ever was (though not as athletic). I know people love to hate Melo, but that would be a pretty damn good player.

I think their idea was to have a G/F/C and build all three into cornerstones. Once you lock down that triforce, you become a force to be reckoned with.
Sixers tried that when we traded up to get Fultz. Just didn't work out because neither he nor Simmons wanted to shoot.
They probably should have taken Mathurin because he was just as aggressive an attacker but with a far better shooting profile than Ivey. But at the time, they thought Saddiq Bey was going to be a keeper and thus they didn't think they needed another F. They wanted a playmaker there instead so they took Ivey.
