Exactly why I don't want anything to do with him. A week or so ago, there was a report he wanted to sign an extension with Brooklyn and that didn't happen so now he wants out. Not that it's all that rare these days but I just can't with Kyrie

Not to mention, he's burned bridges with every team he's been with

He has leverage for a week and then I think he caves on extension. I am pretty sure all the teams with cap space this summer are bad, and probably wouldn't want to pay him anyway, so his best bet is to cave and take BKN's best offer, which will probably slightly improve. I already think it is pretty strong.

I don't see Suns being interested that much in Kyrie, unless he specifically states that he would sign an extension with the Suns. I do feel Kyrie wants to play with Booker, however I think he wants to go to LA more. Because of that I am unsure I trade anything but CP3 and Jae for Kyrie. I also think James Jones is loyal and won't do CP3 like that.

I'd still go after FVV as he is cheaper and we could probably get him while keeping our core group intact.

FVV does not put this team over the top and he will command 20M+.

Kyrie puts this team over the top and he gets to play with Booker.

Oh trust me I know. Kyrie is probably my favorite player to watch outside of the Suns, him and Lillard. So I would trade for Kyrie if it didn't include Bridges, Ayton, or Cam. If that is possible, I do it 100%. I would just hate if he dipped out in free agency, especially if it was to go to the Lakers.

With the emergence of Bridges offense lately, I think we'd be set offensively with Kyrie, and I think it has been shown that we don't necessarily need CP3's playmaking ability anyway. The amount of gravity that Kyrie brings when he is on the floor, will give other guys the opportunity for better shots anyway.

Let me get this straight. Nets offerred Kyrie a new contract based on them winning a title?

Dude can get his money without strings attached on a different team

Dinwiddie would be a nice piece. I can't remember how he left Brooklyn if there was bad blood but I imagine they'd prefer to Paul given his age...and how well he has played in some games of late. They could also throw in Wood, McGee or some other decent contracts. Kyrie and Doncic could be very scary.

Do you really think they'd prefer Paul and Crowder? Paul if overpaid for production and the price to cut him is high for a player who gives you nothing and Jae expires and could go anywhere.
I have no **** idea what Kyrie or the Nets will actually do. I stopped trying to predict actions of irrational people a long time ago.

I just think Dallas could put together a better offer for what they would need (a PG) and maybe a stretch big (Wood) or backup big (McGee or something). Unless we would give up Bridges and they said they didn't want Ayton. And Claxton is playing well on reasonable deal. They have shooters...so do they prefer Cam and filler or something like Dinwiddie and Wood? If we throw in Bridges or they do suddenly want Ayton for some reason, maybe, but that doesn't solve their PG issue.

Who really has cap space to sign him? Unless he would play for MLE or something. Isn't it only bad teams? I imagine if he is saying he won't take max offer it is meaning he won't take it with that championship condition.

BW seems to feel that our assets are always trash and everytime a player becomes available we never have anything to offer.

I don't know where he is drawing this conclusion because we have had the best two seasons in team history.

Do you think Kyrie is capable of keeping his head down and just balling for an extended period of time? Last time he did that was what early Cav days?

I don't know. I never thought so but the COVID thing was a little different. I do think he would create something but after the hot water he got in with the Jewish stuff, I think he may have gotten a bit of a wakeup call with Silver involved and all that and if he's paid, I think it's a slight possibility.

I can understandd why BKN is hesitating on a long term guaranteed deal. I think they had already offered one with incentives on games played and team options, etc.

I still think they almost have no choice. Can't let stars walk away if they make you a contender when healthy and playing. I know many believe they are not close to contender with him, KD and role players, and maybe Simmons still getting back to form, but I think they are. They were way up there even with their terrible start when Kyrie came back...probably the best overall record for a stretch.

Those were just the more extreme examples but there's been a long history of the guy just killing teams. He won with the Cavs and instead of staying on to build a dynasty, he forced his way out...to a rival in Boston. That looked like an awesome fit where he could bring his championship experience to a young group of talented players. That lasted for all of 2 pretty uncomfortable seasons.

I just don't believe in Kyrie, despite acknowledging how good his offense is

If Irving goes to Dallas - wonder if the suns could Dinwiddie
Not sure what the Nets would want though — has 20m due next year I think

There's literally NO way BKN even considers a deal that doesn't include at least one, if not possibly two, of the aforementioned players. No GM or owner in their right mind is giving up a player like Irving (even as much of a malcontent he is) for table scraps. I get he says he'll walk at season's end if he doesn't get moved, but it's not like he's going to just be willing to go absolutely anywhere as him basically having a veto of sorts in a refusal to sign a new deal would be an instant deal killer.

Our best assets are not trash but the main person is Bridges. Ayton maybe but I think many might feel he is overpaid in relation to someone like Claxton. And they already said they don't want Ayton.

But if you are willing to trade Bridges that is better than Dinwiddie and Wood. I am not willing to do that. I would maybe do Cam and a pick...but probably not even Cam and multiple picks. Kyrie is better than OG when engaged and fills a far future bigger hole. But we can't sign in offseason so would have to give something up.

Bridges and a pick might do it, or Cam and 2 picks? But lesser stars have gotten more. We could trump what most are willing to offer since no one will offer much if he only wants a few teams. Is Dallas one of them? If they are, I can see the Nets liiking a replacement PG who is not in late 30s, and a nice stretch 5 given they have Simmons, so Wood would fit well with him.

But if you are talking Bridges, you are right. Or want to trade Ayton.

Unless you think a bunch of expiring contracts, Crowder, etc, is better than Dinwiddie and Wood.

I don't see Kyrie wanting to play with Luka. Most other stars traditionally, haven't really paired themselves with Euro stars. I don't see Kyrie supporting the idea of going to play for the Mavs because of this.

CP3 might be overpaid but he is still a star player and certainly better than any offer the Mavs send. Dallas doesn't have their 2023 draft pick either. I don't think KD would be thrilled to be playing with Dinwiddie, Wood, and whoever else. I mean... Luka is struggling with those guys as teammates, why would KD be any different? Why would KD be happy about that. KD would certainly demand a trade immediately after. He already casually threw his current teammates under the bus earlier in the season.

The fact that Kyrie could just as likely bring a title to phoenix while being trouble free or be the catalyst of our core guys all simultaneously asking to be traded after one season would give you an idea of what we're dealing with.

And by an idea of what we're dealing with, I mean we have NFI

Great!
Brooklyn took our eye off the trade market this summer. and had us in a pause pattern as other deals were made.
Now with only days away from the trade deadline, they might do it again.
I am all for entertaining all options as they pop up but do not let them paralyze you.
