It would be fun. But we have no depth.

I agree.

Scottie/GTJ/KD/Pascal/Precious would have to play 45+ minutes a night

Ya there's absolutely no way that Masai pivots now and trades for KD... Replacing FVV & OG with KD doesn't all of a sudden make this current team a contender.

i'd take the durant + siakam duo over the tatum + brown duo anyway. bench is still a weakness but we would be top tier team for sure.

ideally you'd want to trade trent + og instead of fred; he would be the perfect 3rd offensive option shooting 3s with the gravity created by durant.
we would be top tier for sure; bench would still be an issue.

Nets aren't trading KD in one week. LOL.

There's maybe 1 or 2 teams that would be seriously interested in Kyrie.

Not much changes.

things can change fast. how long did it really take to put together the kawhi trade: 2 days at most? and raps have already talked to the nets in the summer; masai wants to win, so does nurse, so does siakam, so does fred.
i would put up a fvv, barnes, siakam, durant, precious lineup against any starting lineup in the east including the celtics.

Even if you do that it only leaves 2 guys on the roster who can shoot the 3 (FVV/Durant), and still no bench or reliable starting calibre C (love Achiuwa, but still young to rely on for a championship run)... The team would be just as flawed. And would probably be a 1st or if you're really lucky 2nd round exit, and that's assuming we can make up ground & sneak into the play-in/playoffs to begin with.

Could Irving’s demand lead Durant to be next? That is certainly a question for any team looking to go big-game hunting ahead of the deadline. For over a month, sources told Yahoo Sports, the Toronto Raptors have told rival teams they will wait until the final hours before deciding whether to become buyers or sellers in this trade market. Why would Masai Ujiri’s front office part with O.G. Anunoby or Fred VanVleet if the MVP candidate, with three-plus seasons left on his contract, were to become available?

It is interesting that people on the board are worried teams won’t want to give up assets for OG and Fred with the possibility of Durant being available. Meanwhile, Fischer suggests Toronto won’t want to give up their guys for the same reason.

Kyrie and the nets are playing that 4d chess.

1. this season, for sure. but this would be a play at the championship for the next 2-3 years.
2. bench is a problem too. this year, we can get waived wets like westbrook. we also have our injured player exception. otto porter might be back next season and we'll have our MLE also.

Well we know Westbrook isn't going to contribute to winning... It's an all-in move that would set this team back for years because we'd conceivably have to trade picks to help fill out/improve the roster... I just don't think it's a risk that Masai would deem worth taking, at least I hope not lol.

there is no player we have a reasonable chance of getting thru draft/trade who would be better than durant.
this is precisely the risk masai took in trading derozan; he knew the team wasnt going anywhere. we're in the same situation now. masai has a better view of the situation than we do; i trust him to do the right thing. as it is, i'm ok with us moving in either direction.

Yes, but Kawhi was 28 then, and was acquired in the offseason, so the team had an opportunity to play together & work out the kinks. We also had way more depth/trade pieces to make moves & fill out the bench, with guys like Ibaka, OG, FVV, Powell, Wright, etc. There was also no risk dealing Demar because he was a couple years older then Kawhi and had a history of not succeeding in the playoffs here. Poetl was also dispensable because we had a more experienced JV (later dealt for Gasol). Durant is 34, we're unlikely to make the playoffs this season, but in trying we likely lessen our 1st rounder this year, and we have less assets/depth to contend or trade for now pieces to contend then we did in 19-20... To me, the risk is too high to gamble.
