CP3 might be overpaid but he is still a star player and certainly better than any offer the Mavs send. Dallas doesn't have their 2023 draft pick either. I don't think KD would be thrilled to be playing with Dinwiddie, Wood, and whoever else. I mean... Luka is struggling with those guys as teammates, why would KD be any different? Why would KD be happy about that. KD would certainly demand a trade immediately after. He already casually threw his current teammates under the bus earlier in the season.
KD said he was happy with the guys he was playing with pre Kyrie. I don't think he meant to sound like he was throwing them under the bus..but it came out wrong.
Anyway, it's not up to him and he is not a guy that will sit out. But my reasoning I don't think they trade him unless they got a crazy good offer is the same as it was in the offseason. They have him under contract. I don't think he even wants out after the coaching change..he might be getting sick of Kyrie too.
Anyway, it's no use for me getting into repeating the same reasons I didn't think they would trade him in the offseason in which I was right, and since then him and others said he was having a lot of fun and loved his teammates (pre Kyrie coming back), they fired Nash, which was his ultimatum, and he came out and said he has nothing to prove and already won a championship.
So you think KD would be happy going from playing with Westbrook/Harden to Curry/Klay, to Kyrie/Harden and then to go to Kyrie/Simmons, and then be happy to finish his career with Dinwiddie and Christan Wood and Ben Simmons who is on a max contract putting up 7.4 points, 6.5 rebounds. 6.4 assists while shooting under 50% from the FT?
Also... that is just damage control KD saying he loves his teammates. No one is going to blatantly say their team is trash.
He said he was happy, even when they were not playing great, and he's been injured. I think there is far less chance he is traded in the next week than there was this summer, and I didn't think chances were very high then either. This offseason, possibly, but I still don't see us having great assets and long term it's probably better to have Bridges. The KD injury worries have come alive and if we had him now he'd just be another player who is out.
