Fred VanVleet Mega Thread III

Post#1 » by Truthrising » Sat Feb 4, 2023 6:01 pm

The young players will never fully develop with FVV on the team. Now were back to Fred ballhogging the offence, oh well at least this will increase his trade value.
Masai's to do list

FVV for Kyrie! A key part of an NBA champion, multiple all NBA teams, 8 time all star! Not just a bench player/6th man on a championship team.

You're free to present your opinions on why they shouldn't trade him.

It's funny that the media is pushing this great resurgence of Fred. His monthly S% are better than earlier in tge year but are still not good.

Like last month with all the hype, he shot 41.8, 36.1 from 3.

THAT'S THE FRED PLAYING GREAT NOW? To put it into perspective, last year he had a month of:

45.3 S%, 41% from 3

It's just so bizarre. But hey, if the hype helps get us a better return, we can live with 6 more days of this.

3 trade Fred threads > 2 tWo threads. This is an indication that the raptors board care more about the status of Fred being here, more than whether we continue to add assets or not

he's certainly shooting it much better lately. but yes, a trade would ideally put the ball in scottie's hands more which is what we need in order to develop him.

They showed his last 10 game stats last night. He has certainly been shooting fairly efficiently as of late.

47% FG, 41% 3pt

Of course not sustainable - he is simply getting back closer to his mean over the years.
And not suggesting this make any difference on whether we decide or not decide to move him.

Unfortunately media hype usually means they want to keep him. When a player is about to get traded they start going on about his future witj the team and how he's involved in all these rumors.

He had a stretch like that last year too... his career averages are the player he will be at his best. Not someone sorth keeping for the long haul.

This is only a positive if the Raptors are actually dealing him this trade deadline. Otherwise we're losing another year of bad basketball and increasing our losing culture with no joy in the game.

What's crazy is demar never even got a thread like this. The fact that this is now a board majority opinion is quite telling.

NBA 2022/2023 league average TS is 57.9%

22 points and 7 assists on league average efficiency and low turnovers. Yes that is great production, especially for the worst offensive team in the league.

All anybody is saying is that he is back to form. You guys expecting more from Fred?

As the “point guard” he takes bigger ownership of the offense being ass since he’s literally the floor general. He doesn’t have the vision to create for others unless it’s obvious. Also tends to go into tunnel vision mode when he wants to iso. He’s always going to be league average or worse with his own offense since he’s slow, short, and can’t create space or finish consistently. Him being “back to form” means very little.

Probably, Masai and Nurse love Fred. They prioritize him over the development of our young guys and we’re not even contenders. That’s how much they adore him.
