We get to see giannis picking teammates and fellow African brothers. And telling LeBron, that's a good pick.
And if harden makes the all-star game maybe some light fu harden banter. Which is always excellent television.

It is not out of the realm of possibility if we go on a run here and we get the 1 seed (2.5 back and 2 games against the Celtics, Celtics also play Sixers 3x). There will be some very serious Jokic/Giannis conversations.

i expect luka, embiid, and tatum, to also be in this conversation until the end. its just going to take one of these guys to set themselves apart in the 2nd half of the season, or their narrative to develop. like if the mavs finish the season strong or whatever.

Our Gianni will, I think, be certainly in the discussion if the team can stay relatively healthy and he starts cleaning up his efficiency while putting up big-time numbers. Bucks will have to be a Top 2 seed at worst, though, for him to get 1st place votes. If the Bucks somehow leapfrog the Celtics and keep the Sixers at bay, then things will be VERY interesting for voters at the end of the season. It's been an all-timer MVP race with 4-5 guys having huge seasons.

It's all about the narrative on mvp. (the narrative not necessarily MO)
I think Tatum has the most marketable narrative.
Young player, breaking out. Last year took team to the finals, this year leading team to the #1 seed and best NBA team overall. Lots of crazy scoring games. He's the new shiny superstar of the nba.
Luka has a chance but his team too close to a play in level. He's got that against him.
Jokic... No one gets 3 mvps in a row, and past performance in playoffs show he's not a wilt, or Kareem, or Jordan level just yet.
Embiid, he's got a chance as the brides maid but never a bride a few times and his numbers are always good enough to say he deserves one, but there's a knock against him failing in the playoffs.
Giannis, very few ever deserve a 3rd overall mvp so he's competing not just against the current crop of players, but he's being compared to the GOAT'S who have three. He does have a ring, finals mvp on his belt so some may be convinced he has enough jewelry to qualify, but his team can't finish less than #2 seed.
He'll need some incredible games against top players on national TV and some more crazy 40 or 50pt burgers with Ws. He won't be able to miss too many more games he won't be able to have stinker games. Or a national TV game where he goes 1/12 in midrange/long range. For whatever reason he will be deemed too unskilled to be worthy of a 3rd along the GOATs that have 3 mvps.
I think giannis has a shot but Tatum is trendier. I think it's easier to give 1 mvp vs giving a guy a 3rd.

Giannis has moved aggressively up the top scorers these past couple weeks. He is at 134 and will pass Sammy either tonight or Saturday.
I think Giannis is guaranteed to be top 20 all time (assuming no catastrophic injury). He needs another title and longevity stats to be considered Top 15. Kind of crazy considering even 3 years ago that would seem like crazy talk.

119. Derek Harper 16006
119. Rasheed Wallace 16006
121. Amar'e Stoudemire 15994
122. Kiki Vandeweghe 15980
123. Pete Maravich* 15948
124. Paul George 15908
125. Jack Twyman* 15840
126. Chauncey Billups 15802
127. Detlef Schrempf 15761
128. Richard Hamilton 15708
129. Larry Nance 15687
130. Jeff Hornacek 15659
131. Giannis Antetokounmpo 15647
Will be passing Hornachek for Top 130 all-time scorers. Assuming he plays 5 of 6 remaining games, he will be borderline Top 125 at the all-star break. He was at like 185 at the beginning of the year. I just find it fascinating how quickly he is moving up longevity lists after just turning 28.

If he were to play, say, 7 more seasons and retires at 35 and averages about 1,500 pts per season, he'll finish somewhere around 26,000 for his career. Or in the KG/Pierce/Nique region.

Giannis throws down a couple of 50 pieces and gets ranked third.. Lame.

I see him as half way through his career, he's getting 30k.

Last night he hit some nice jump shots that gets solid and if he continues to add a bit of Duncan to his game he can go another decade.

Basketball reference has updated Giannis's page to include his latest all star call up. He's now at 95% HOF probability. I know some of you dorks like to check it.

Every player that has won the MVP and has been eligible has made the HOF.
It should have been 100% a while ago. BREF dorks....

Well if it wasn't formula based, yeah he's been a lock for a few years. Jokic is like 72%

Just saying the formula is weird if it doesn't include MVP award. That's a pretty stone cold lock factor.

Guessing it's in there but just not weighted as high as maybe it should be. Rose is at 10.5% with the MVP, one all NBA first team and 3 all star games.
