He's made good moves, going against consensus to pick barnes.
I'm still a believer that koloko will turn out to be the right move, even over kesseler
Not sure what fans see in Koloko, much less Raptors brass. I have a feeling if he was selected by any other team in the league, we wouldn't be giving him a second thought. But because he was selected by us, we think he has something special.
Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. To me, he looks like a 6'9 energy big who MAY become a rotation piece on a winning team. And even that's far from a guarantee as well.
I hope I'm wrong though. That would make me very very happy.
I see him as a Boucher replacement with less offense and more defense and can actually be a better C.

This looks good if it were going that route. Brooklyn probably isn’t giving up two seconds plus Kyrie, but I think adding a piece like Boucher - even with his contract - is probably worth it to them rather than just taking the Westbrook deal and getting worse this season. At least Fred and Boucher is maybe 65% of what Kyrie brings when fully there, and you get Freddy’s bird rights.
I think I would rather LAC, though:
Toronto: Wall, Kennard, Mann, 2028 LAC 1st
Brooklyn: Morris, FVV
LAC: Kyrie, Edwards
Morris is better than Boucher, so it may be a bit more enticing for Brooklyn.

I would want the Philly pick from BRK. In isolation, FVV has more value than Kyrie. Add in the fact that they want to keep Durant and getting FVV in there becomes a much better option for them. That should be worth a pick.
I think Mann is very good and a solid long term rotation piece. Both the Philly and Clippers picks are decently valuable and have some upside down the road. And Kennard is a good contract, 2 more years at $15m per but the last year is a team option. I think this is a great trade for us if we can get it done.

I think it’s super unlikely that we trade him in division, but he’s a good fit there with Simmons and KD and it would be a way to get a FRP or two.
So FVV to Brooklyn, Kyrie to the Lakers and the two Lakers FRPs to Toronto? Seems fair, but then what? Flynn isn't a starting quality PG. Are we tanking for two seasons? If so, definitely deal Siakam as well. Maybe not until summer though. Maybe we get a decent PG back for him.

If it's with the Clippers, Mann has been playing the point beside Kawhi and PG and he's done well. It's a similar construct to what we have: 2 wings that like to handle the ball and initiate offense. Mann has shown he can play the PG spot in that type of construct.
If it's with the Lakers, yeah the PG spot gets tough for this season. Unless you do the trade with NO and get back Devontae Graham, that might work. I don't think Kira Lewis works beside Scottie and Pascal though - he's also a non-shooter.
I have my fingers crossed for the Clippers deal. I think Mann is the best asset coming out of either deal.

What about OG and Pascal for KD and Nic Claxton? Works in trade checker.
With the Kyrie trade demand KD may want out too. We'd probably have to throw in a 1st round pick, but not multiple.
KD makes zero sense for this team. We stink and have no depth. LOL. We aren't going anywhere with KD.
lol we get KD because we stink.
depth is an issue, granted but i would put up a durant, siakam duo versus anyone else in the league.

Curry's age and mileage is starting to show.

A little side note but I don't think he should go anywhere. To me gsrys flaws are a direct result of nick nurses coaching philosophy. He lets guys get away witj anything offensively as long as they play defense the way he wants. He's never held gary accountable for taking bad shots or not passing the ball, but he has benched him for his supposed lack of defensive effort.
Gary needs to be told to pass the ball more, and be coached to be less selfish offensively. Even if he makes the right read 50% of the time, and makes more of a conscious effort go pass on the pick and roll for example, he's a good player to keep around.
You think NBA coaches aren't telling Gary to pass and playmake more? He was like this in Portland too. It is what it is at this point. He's a great shooter, who can create a little for himself but nothing more than that.

We're trading Pascal though in that offer he proposed. KD got bounced in the first round last year. He's not good enough to carry this team and our bench is atrocious.
I agree though, Pascal and KD would be an elite duo but we won't go very far with that bench.

Spot on about the Clippers deal.
Even if it’s the Lakers and we open up a hole at PG, we tank the rest of this year with Scottie getting a lot of ball handling experience and can re-evaluate in the off-season. Siakam can be moved then if we swing and miss on Scoot or Victor. If we get either of those guys, it’s worth keeping Siakam around to see what that roster can do.

I honestly don't see the need to move on from Pascal if both OG and FVV end up getting traded. Everyone else on this roster is going to be on their rookie extensions at worst when he's on his next max (+ potentially GTJ). I have faith that he has another 3-4 years left in his prime.
Only reason we move him is if we get a godfather offer or he asks out because he wants to go to a contender/wants to get himself a green card. I don't see this organization wanting to bottom out multiple years, just not in their DNA and has never been.

Koloko
Suns 2023 FRP
Raps 2025 SRP
Suns get two huge additions that should improve both their PG and C position. Raps get their long-term C. Spurs get a first and plus Koloko and a SRP. Not a bad haul for Poeltl.
So we trade Fred, Thad and a 2nd and all we get back is Deandre Ayton?
I think we would far rather have both FVV and Poeltl. Deandre doesn’t really fit with the team right now.
I think you go the direction of Poeltl you are looking at Toronto as one piece away. He is going to be cheaper but you keep this older group together which has no real room to improve. We know how good they are and they are in the lotto.
I don't particularly like Ayton at the moment, but getting a young C with size and upside, that will also force Nurse out of his ridiculous switching defense, is a good start. Hate the contract but it isn't close to negative value at all and he is at position that there is scarcity.
The best teams in the league have franchise Cs and if you do believe in Toronto player development, Ayton could have that potential.
We are going to have to agree to disagree on Ayton. IMO, he’s not worth expiring contracts (with his future salary), let alone everything we are giving up.
I believe in Masai.

Is it?
two quality rotation players and a 1st for a head case.
Who was offering them a better package? I'd take that over anything Lakers could offer (assuming they refused to put both of their picks in a deal)
Kyrie killed his trade value with his off court stuff.
