None of us are in the know that the Vulcan's in Seattle will green light any trades that will push the team
over the tax line. Most likely the team will end up sitting out the trade deadline unless its a Josh Hart to
get something for a player who management knows they can't sign unless they let Grant walk

Sounds like teams are interested in Hart. It would be nice to at least get a future first out of someone

I'm not opposed to la trades if we win the deal. Definitely won't do them any favors though

POR in: Simmons
POR out: Winslow, Little, Hart, Payton
Nurk/Eubanks
Grant/Simmons
Simmons/Sharpe
Simons/Sharpe
Lillard/Simons

Would be freaking fun!

BKN in: Little, Garland, Levert, Okoro, Osman, Westbrook, 23, 25, 27 CLE 1sts, both LAL 1sts
BKN out: Durant, Irving, Simmons, Morris, Warren

BKN young core: Claxton/Garland/Little/Okoro/Osman/crazy amount of picks/flip Levert or Westbrook

CLE in: Durant, Hart, Payton, Beverly, Winslow, Warren
CLE out: Garland, Levert, Okoro, Love 23, 25, 27 1sts

Allen/Mobley
Mobley/KD
KD/Winslow
Hart/Windler
Mitchell/Rubio

Real contender status!

LAL in: Kyrie, Love, Morris
LAL out: Westbrook, '27 & '29 1sts, Beverly

Seems obviously a yes for LAL

-----------------
Is Hart/(dead money)Payton/Winslow(good backup)/Little(nice prospect)

For Simmons bad for Portland??

Would Portland NEED picks or a pick comming in? Could random seconds suffice?

I want to stay as far away from Ben Simmons as possible, particularly with his contract. He's a talented player but I don't think he can be relied upon.

I'd do this trade in a heartbeat. If Portland couldn't do Durant themselves. I don't think Cleveland should trade Garland, though, I think they should trade Mitchell.

I know some of our fellow POrtland fans - I see you, moonbeam! - aren't big on Simmons.. and his lack of shooting is a concern. But he's such a great ballhander and defender, he's exactly the type of wing this team needs - minus the shooting woes. I think Dame could rebuild his confidence.

I think he can also play five against any western conference center in the playoffs except Jokic. Maybe Ayton.

My concerns are as much about his availability as his ability and fit. Across his career, Ben Simmons has missed 40.5% of his games. Portland’s depth issues would be exacerbated by trading out 4 players for one who may miss significant chunks of the season. Some of those players have their own injury baggage (e.g. Little), but I could foresee many nights where Portland would be relying on G-League call-ups for important minutes, particularly given Ben’s salary would limit filling out the rest of the roster with serviceable players.

I have some doubts about Simmons as a player as well despite the flashes of brilliance he can show on defense and playmaking, but from a simple value/availability perspective, I’m quite wary of bringing him to Portland.

If Portland does a consolidation trade, I’d want it to be for a guy who is more reliably available.

Simmons is the ultimate buy low guy. He could really make the team better or flame out that salary slot. If we can pick up a real center Nurkic +Hart+GP2 for Ben works in the trade checker.

Then Nas+Winslow+GB3
For Mo Bamba
We should get just enough cap space to sign Dwight Howard under the tax

Dame/Ant/Keon
Ant/Sharpe/Keon
Grant/Jabari/Simmons
Simmons/Grant/Watford
Bamba/Howard/Eubanks

This scenario makes us younger, longer, more athletic with additional upside.
Sharpe and Keon both get additional run and will have some growing pains. I 100%believe Dame will get Simmons back to that 2nd team all NBA level.
Simmons may not hit the 3 but he's better than anyone at getting teammates open looks. Maybe you cut Badji or butler to pock up a G-League guard or try to convince McClemore to come back to the states for a run.
I'm excited by what Ben could add playing 1-5 at different times.
From Portland to Reno to Vegas to LA to SLC and on to HotLanta. Winning at life. Too Blessed to be Stressed

I'd take a flyer on him if we didn't lose anything significant. I dont think I'd give up anf or sharpe for him

Yeah, you couldn’t pay me to watch Ben Simmons or support him on Portland at this point. Dude literally is just cashing checks and giving minimal effort. Takes multiple games off at a time with fake injuries to play games and date models/actresses. I doubt he even tries to get another contract after this one is done, he seems to care about basketball that little.

Shaedon Sharpe as Portland’s starting SG would not and should not happen this year … though some here would disagree about the this year part if Simons was traded …

Basic questions with no final answers, necessarily:
1. Will Sharpe become an excellent small forward?
2. Is it much more likely he can become excellent but primarily as a SG?
3. For the next few years … assuming Sharpe could play near starter minutes … would you be comfortable with Dame, Ant and Sharpe as starters at 1,2,3?
4. Given Grant at the 4 (his best position with advantages), if #2 is likely … and #3 is fun but a sieve on D … THEN does the reasonable view of not trading Ant become the way forward to improve at the 3? That SF isn’t likely an all star but is 3 and D?

Yes, OG. Ant has the higher ceiling and can become an all star PG/SG in the East. I see Ant as worth more but the improvement on D for Portland is worth it.
I would be happy to see Dame, Sharpe, OG, and Grant as next year’s starters … plus a new center.

it kind of feels like trading Hart might be the only move Portland makes

be nice if they got a return in a 3 team deal of something like Vanderbilt and Mo Bamba for Hart. Don't know if they can get that

prefer Winslow or Little and a couple of 2nd's for Vanderbilt. And Hart going somewhere else

Good thoughts. Either way, it’s reasonable. If what you’ve said happens, that’s a big enough improvement with a summer trade of Nurkic yet to come!

Kyrie headed to Dallas. Nets didn’t get much in return but could be addition by subtraction just to be done with his nonsense.

Will be interesting to see what happens with KD after this.

Would they trade Ben Simmons to Portland?

He might be perfect for Portland he literally does all the things that Dame, Ant and Grant seem disinterested in doing.
