JJ just let Kyrie get traded to the Mavs.
We didn't even make an offer?

Nice, glad that's over
SHAZAM!
Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Sounds like the beginning of the end of Luka in Dallas.

A complete shock. I do wonder if Kyrie is happy about this. Not even a huge gamble for the Mavs IMO because if Kyrie leaves they just create cap space for this summer by trading DFS and Dinwiddie.
This feels like a Kawhi situation.

Time will tell but I think this is a bad move for Dallas. DFS & Dinwiddie were straight suns killers. There's still only one ball - can Luka & Kyrie co exist? I only see this being a positive for when Luka's missing games. But we'll see.

I'm so happy that CP3 secured his ring after this.

Kyrie won’t resign in Dallas. That was a dumb move.

I mean, if, BIG if, Kyrie just puts his head down and plays basketball, that's one hell of a talented backcourt. Honestly, that is a pretty bad outcome in my opinion. Cheap price, a rival team we already struggle against, and now two of the most annoying players ever on the same team together.
I didn't want Kyrie, but I sure as hell didn't want him on any major rival or competitor for the playoffs. I think this is a pretty bad outcome for the Suns.
A 2029 unprotected first round pick and some scrubs (don't @ me if you don't think those players are scrubs)? Yikes man, I dunno. The west is fairly wide open so we better upgrade somehow because clearly we didn't have the defense or the firepower to beat the Mavs last year.
Granted, at least the Clippers didn't get him for a cheap price.

I am truly relieved it wasn't the Suns
The Mavs gave a 2029 unprotected FRP
What player would cost the Suns a future unprotected pick - meaning protections in 2024 and 2025 but open in 2026
What would entice Ainge? Or maybe the Twolves
Vanderbilt and Olynyk or Beasley
D'lo Russell

Yup.
This better work as once Kyrie resigns for 200 million (lol) then that's your team. Kyrie and Christian Wood sounds like a nightmare for the locker room lol

Exactly right. Now we have to deal with Luka AND Kyrie. I cannot believe Jones let this **** go down.
We could have easily beat that offer.

I do think Jones needs to put a FRP up for a trade
I like the ESPN trade of Curry/Kessler for Crowder if a last resort
But I think the Suns need to take it up a notch and really improve the team

Glad the Irving mess is settled and we weren't a part of it. Dude is a team cancer but a hell of a player. Dallas just going to keep beating our asses with that combo unless Jones et al do something to push us back near the top.

Only problem is it's really 2 guys that need to dominate the ball to be at their best not sure how good Kyrie will be off the ball and he will be off 5he ball in Dallas, really don't like the fit, but we will see could be wrong. That was a good haul for Kyrie.

I wonder if Matt Ishbia will just wait to fire Jones in the offseason and make moves with his own guy (like trading CP3, etc.)
I know new owners like to make a big splash and there seemed to have been a push to get him instated before the trade deadline, but he may be looking at the long term picture more so than this season.

Re: 2022-23 Season Discussion and Speculation 4 - Trade season continues - No player trade restrictions
I never truly thought Jones would trade for Kyrie because of the risk that would involve. Ultimately don't think Suns made an offer for Kyrie. Plus I think the idea Jones had in mind was to add to CP3 and Booker, not replace CP3.
I'm wondering if KD will ask out now or what his thoughts are. The Nets front office have been such a poop show the last few years I don't expect KD to be thrilled with what his team has become.

KD doesn't have a choice. That ship has sailed and the Nets FO is a disaster.
