I get you're not a native-speaker, and "in a roll" sounds very funny and kind of cool, but the normal usage is "in a row."

I love that new phrase :D "In a roll" is the coolest thing since sliced bread !
Hope Jokic wins MVP again, he's the humblest pie ever, while I don't find Giannis as humble (despite others saying he is).

I'm rooting for Jokic to deserve it, because he is my favorite player since Tim Duncan, but what I really want from NBA basketball is for the most deserving players/teams to be rewarded! (Like... Miami would've beaten Boston last year if not for straight-up ref cheating! Yikes! But at leat GSW won in the Finals, so "justice" prevailed in the end. Rant over. Lol... I like to forget this kind of thing as fast as possible so I can keep enjoying the league.)

Players who are afraid to take the shoots in the game and who are hiding behind the assists like Jokic was in the half of the games that he played this season, should not be on anyone's list for the MVP award. You cannot be awarded for being passive . The last game is another example ,Jokic had on the paper solid numbers overall but he wasn't even the third best player in the game. And there were too many games like that this season that should disqualifying him from the race. MVP candidate has to take responsibility in every game and not just be a spectator in the quarter of the games and he's capable to do that . Previous two MVP awards were legit and well deserved for Jokic , he carried trash teams to some team success. This season he's not that dominant, he has better and healthier team and he's taking more of the back seat , he's an all star player and still the top player on the Nuggets roster but he's not the MVP candidate with the quality of play he's displaying this season compared to the previous two seasons. I think he will be more aggressive in the play off's and his objective by now should the finals MVP title.
to me he's clearly coasting, taking a backseat when the team is rolling, becoming more aggressive if the game is more competitive and they need him. But even when he's not in attack mode he's still putting his teammates in position to succeed, moving the ball, screening, running, finding them in good position. And still having a massive impact on the game.
to me that's the maximum level of maturity for a player, what also allows him to have all that stamina and avoid injuries, all while generating amazing vibes around him. He's not competing with his teammates, he doesn't feel the need to protect his numbers and assert his dominance, and he's absolutely walking the walk in terms of putting winning above everything.

This might be the most impressive RS I have ever witnessed, over Shaq in 2k.

Agree with all of your first two paragraphs. As someone who's watched him closely for years, I've seen him take over games with scoring down the stretch many times in previous years. This year he's doing it less - mostly, maybe, because it's been needed less. I'm curious to see whether he can/will flip the switch if/when it becomes necessary going forward this year, particularly in the playoffs.

PS He did the same thing last night, actually. Second quarter, game got to within 3 points, and he immediately called his own number. He's so good at every aspect of the game, the real question becomes a mental one: when does he choose to deploy which weapons?

He's always aggressive in the play off's. But there is no reason for him to deffer to anyone on this team, he should be able to do both scoring the ball and distributing the ball . He had some huge scoring games this season where he was doing it both ways. The regular season is also part of the season where players are sharpening their tools for the play off's. In the previous two seasons when he won the MVP awards , his offensive game was diverse, he was posting up, shooting jumpers, driving to the paint. We barely see those last two from him this season. He should be averaging at least 18 shot attempts per game. If I was his coach I would challenge him every game, to me him taking the shot or two and sometimes none for the quarter is unacceptable.

Who cares. Obviously it's a huge part of his game but focusing solely on scoring/shooting with a player like Jokic is completely missing the forest for the trees. It's only natural that he'd be shooting less now that he's got a relatively healthy roster to play with. Efficiency is up, assists are up, impact is still massive and his team is in first place. So what's the issue?

EDIT: And Denver has the No. 1 offense, up from No. 6 last year. So whatever Jokic is doing, it's clearly working.

I get you're not a native-speaker, and "in a roll" sounds very funny and kind of cool, but the normal usage is "in a row."

PS If you'd prefer I never do this again, just say so. As someone who lived in a foreign country for 6.5 years, I always felt that being corrected on my Chinese was one of the most valuable things I could get from native speakers, so I'm just trying to pass it on.

I was born in American I make one mistake you think I am foreigner. Stfu. After over 2000 posts I made one mistake and you think I am not a native speaker. Word of advice do not assume to know someone without you know actually know them. Me correcting you on this is one of the most valuable things you can learn so I’m just trying to pass it on.

Doesn’t matter how many mistakes I make with my grammar people should not assume anything about a person’s background without actually knowing them is my point. That irks me.

Nobody else should really be in the discussion right now

Tatum has to be in the conversation..To say he has no place is ludicrous. Personally it’s Jokic

I would have Tatum #5 right now behind them. I think he by far has the best team built around him, not saying thats his fault. I just think he is a level below those four.

Team record will pull Giannis ahead of Luka and i think Embiid does more for the 76s than Tatum does for Boston

That's as much to do with how awful the rest of the roster is than it is how good Luka is.

I don't see the value of your post as you're only stating the obvious considering what this Tweet just points out.

The tweet is.pointing out what everyone knows anyway. He's a superstar playing with scrubs but it's not going to push him above people like Jokic and Giannis who are also putting up ridiculous numbers on contenders.

Not anymore with Kyrie on the team. Might hurt his chances. The problem with the mavs now is depth.

Jokic out again today. The games played part is not going to be a factor this year.
