That was about what I expected him to go for. It was a mistake though to me not to package any salary with him.
Now they are in no mans land because you are still capped out

he can be annoyed but he's also under contract.
if you can somehow flip joe harris + frp's for john collins then you may have something. but losing kyrie basically puts all the playoff scoring onus on KD as the lone elite creator.
I haven't watched Dinwiddie regularly since we traded him, but he was a fantastic on ball creator with us. Not Kyrie level, but perfectly good enough. And people are saying he's still very good, so I think we're ok, especially if we look to obtain one more shot creator with whatever assets we have left.
I agree with looking to package Simmons and picks or Curry/Harris and picks to acquire someone else.
He’s much better as a scorer and he has tons more shooting outside of KD than his current squad in Dallas.
He’s casually dropping 30 and 40 for the Mavs. We’ll be fine this year with him as a starter. Dallas fans wanted him to get more touches actually.

Re: Kyrie Wants Out
Super impressed w/ what actually got back for Kyrie.
We all know what Dinwiddie gives us, DFS is a monster on D + some more picks. Was expecting a bad trade so not mad at all.
Lowkey sad the Kyrie era never worked out for so many crazy reasons, but at least we got some memorable nights from Ky as a Net.
Luka + Ky will be must watch TV. 2 magicians.
Win/Win

Do yall really believe they didn't at least gauge KD's opinion if this was the way they was leaning or ultimately what they decided?
He might of said if u do this I need to see improvement or I'm gona have to ask for a trade next.

Re: Kyrie Wants Out
im pumped about this. preferred fvv to dinwiddie, and who knows maybe something still materializes before trade call, but whatever difference there is in their games i like getting dfs, the first, and an og brooklyn culture guy.
was just commenting this am on the marks thread about how much it sucked dinwiddie got hurt so quickly in the kd era and it would be great to see him get a chance now.
nets also now kind of loaded with non-core assets to continue to trade over the next few days if they choose. 2 future firsts, cam off his 44 point outburst, some contracts, and if they are truly sick of unreliables they can move simmons too.
a lot of players that can help available on the deadline big board. whether it's a poetl or collins or fvv or gtj i expect them to add at least 1 more key piece.

Y’all haven’t kept up with Dinwiddie. He is much better than FVV on both ends this year. He’s not the same as before. He’s averaging 40% on 3s and turned into an extremely efficient second option and that WCF run definitely changed him.
6’5 guard who can shoot next to Simmons is a wonderful backup plan to play with. There’s literally no mismatch for any guards with this team right now.
The shortest players left are Patty, Cam and Seth. That’s a great sign for our ability to switch defensively.

Brunson is the better fit or Hartenstein. Clax, Randle with Ben is a tough fit for spacing.

Re: Kyrie Wants Out
Dinwiddie is a great locker room leader. Isn’t afraid to speak him mind. Has been thrown into many roles and adapted without any fuss. He started out as our bench’s playmaker with a great assist t/o ratio. Then moved into a microwave scorer off the bench. He has also started and carried our teams offence to big wins . When Kyrie and kd came he put his mind to 3 and d and did that well till season ending Injury. The guy is a baller and just try’s to fit in to any role we need from him.
Dfs from all reports was Lukas best Freind and secondary leader in the locker room. Doesn’t ask for shots plays within the system and defends his ass off.
We lose kyries mercurial scoring but gain Guys who will buy in and fit in. Not to mention there are more moves to be done. I think with this roster we really get to gauge all of our coaches and systems.
I expect us to be an elite defensive unit.
I also expect us to give cam room to grow as a scorer off the bench.

For the cap gurus, did Spence sign a recent deal with Dallas? Is his contract friendly enough for long term? I suppose I can look it up, just wanted some clarification or input from you guys.
OKC Thunder fan, too.

Agree. Surprised, honestly.
I don't think the team is finished making moves as there is definitely a need for a second scorer. However, all things considered, good start.
I was initially of the opinion there was no way to contend if he's traded but there is a chance the team could actually improve when it's all said and done.
Addition by subtraction
How folks aren't excited to bring Spencer back home is beyond me.
I always liked Din but is he excited to be back ? Not so sure bro

Spencer Dinwiddie is not going to be the 2nd best player on a Championship team. This team took a huge step back offensively.
Kyrie saved us in a lot of tough 4th Quarters. And made a lot of really tough shots.
The question is what does KD want to do?
Should we sell high on him now?
Or do we think he can help us pursue another all star with some of the picks we have acquired and Cam Thomas?
If we can make a trade for Beal or Lillard right now I would do it.
Cam, Philly first, Dallas first, future Nets first.
Big no no for Beal , Lillard is out of our reach I think

Papi_swav wrote:I think the Mavs is the best deal at this point. Dinwiddie gives us a point guard, DFS is another 3&D wing defender we can use and Wood is a backup center that can get buckets and rebounds. I would try to squeeze a first rounder out of them too. The team would have alot of depth and keeps us afloat as a contender. We can still add someone at buyout.
Like I said, this was the best deal on the table. Clippers didn't have anything, Lakers didn't either and I don't like the 2028 picks, that's way too far out. I didn't really want Chris Paul from the Suns, dude contract sucks and he's clearly showing father age.
Wish we could of got Wood too, that would of been a home run trade. But Dinwiddie is our new point guard with size and length so he's not a liability on switches on defense. Can score a little and pass well and get to the free throw line, happy to have Din back, he has heart. DFS is one of the better 3&D players in the league. I remember he guarded KD perfectly last season when they played which is the reason KD likes him. He has alot of length and will come in handy against Tatum, Brown, Giannis etc..
Our defense is going to be lights out. We just need a backup big and a scoring guard that can create his own shot. I really think we did a good job in this trade and we got a 1st and a bunch of 2nds which definitely helps because there is a chance the Mavs sucks. We should be ecstatic about this trade and so should KD. And the best part about it is we don't have guys that will take games off for the heck of it, and these guys actually buys in and won't cause any distractions, high character guys.
