Haynes: Suns Want KD

Post#1 » by jredsaz » Sun Feb 5, 2023 9:02 pm

And it begins… What the Suns best package? And is it better than what the other teams might offer?

I mean it probably starts with Ayton and Bridges for KD and some other balancing salary (Claxton at least makes sense positionally), then picks to balance.

Outside of that the Suns don't really have the value pieces without trading Booker, so I'm guessing that's the offer.

Is he available though? Seems like Nets went for a win now return for Kyrie

I love when reporters like Haynes blatantly act as agents of tampering, and by love it, I mean hate it. It sucks.

In other news water is wet, Spurs want Wembayema, etc etc

Suns are positioned well, but every team is going to get their assets to the table for KD.

If I were KD I'd rather be in BRK than go to PHX with what they'd have to trade for him. Dinwiddie is alright, DFS is great, Claxton is more than great. Plenty of other useful guys.

Which part of the return has convinced you in the premise that Nets are remaining a contender?

If I am Brooklyn, I am asking for at least Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, and every single unprotected First Round Draft Pick + 2028 Swap. That said, hard to say if even that gets it done (another team might offer a more blue-chip piece).

If Phoenix balks at that price, it kind of is what it is. Just move forward with the season or find another trading partner (perhaps during the next off-season).

Stars want to play with stars and as useful as DFS and Claxton are I wouldn’t call either great.

If anything I’d say they try to flip the Mavs pick for more help.

Agree with godaddy. They took two veteran win now players as the bulk of the Kyrie deal. That signals trying to win around KD, not move him.

I don’t want phx to trade for KD.. but really? I don’t think KD is to interested in facing double/triple teams at his age right now…. Bkn needs to pick a path

1. add some very good ball handlers now
2. Trade KD now
3. Let KD rest much of remaining season as he comes back from injury, trade in offseason

What assets the Nets currently possess are giving you that confidence to imply that a Nets subsequent move might bring another star to Durant?

Suns can offer Cam, Payne, Shamet, Crowder, Saric, 3 first round picks, 2 pick swaps.

Mikal is just too damn good and likable to be available.

DA is still there to sweeten the pot if needed, but I wouldn't want to move him since he's key to our defense.

He's not worth breaking up the young core for someone who will, undoubtedly, get injured again and again.

That said, if they do decide to get serious, it'll likely have to be a three team deal with Ayton and Johnson (plus fillers) to make it work. I'm fine purging Ayton but I'm reluctant to see Johnson go even with his impending restricted free agency at season's end.
