I don't think the team is finished making moves as there is definitely a need for a second scorer. However, all things considered, good start.

I was initially of the opinion there was no way to contend if he's traded but there is a chance the team could actually improve when it's all said and done.

Addition by subtraction

How folks aren't excited to bring Spencer back home is beyond me.

I always liked Din but is he excited to be back ? Not so sure bro

was just commenting this am on the marks thread about how much it sucked dinwiddie got hurt so quickly in the kd era and it would be great to see him get a chance now.

nets also now kind of loaded with non-core assets to continue to trade over the next few days if they choose. 2 future firsts, cam off his 44 point outburst, some contracts, and if they are truly sick of unreliables they can move simmons too.

a lot of players that can help available on the deadline big board. whether it's a poetl or collins or fvv or gtj i expect them to add at least 1 more key piece.

Y’all haven’t kept up with Dinwiddie. He is much better than FVV on both ends this year. He’s not the same as before. He’s averaging 40% on 3s and turned into an extremely efficient second option and that WCF run definitely changed him.

6’5 guard who can shoot next to Simmons is a wonderful backup plan to play with. There’s literally no mismatch for any guards with this team right now.

The shortest players left are Patty, Cam and Seth. That’s a great sign for our ability to switch defensively.

Yeah i don't think people have been keeping tabs on Spencer. He is a much more polished player now and is an efficient three point shooter.

We need one more move i think, but we can still compete with this squad. Just need to get healthy.

Good lookin out. Wonder what happens with Spence after a couple years. However, the DFS $ is very nice. Great value for the type of player he is in my opinion.

If we could somehow get Lavine then it would really put us back into business.

But Chicago is clearly not rebuilding.

I'm just not really sure what the point is of going all in on contending around KD when we have no real chance of winning.

You need a second star to carry the offensive load with KD. We literally have nobody to do that anymore.

I honestly just feel bad for Durant.

Kyrie completely betrayed him for nothing. The man isn't even getting a guaranteed max for Dallas. Now hes left KD on his own at the very end of his prime.

What a **** situation.

Probably the second best wing defender in the league behind Bridges in Phoenix. Perfect type of defender to put on Tatum, Brown.

I watched their last game as a Mav against the Warriors last night and he looks really, really good defensively. He is a pretty good 3 point shooter and he’s definitely better at guarding big guys than Royce.

Actually, the fact he played himself to get the same outcome in Dallas might help KD realize he made a real dumbass decision mid season.

Kyrie played himself. I doubt Durant cares if Marks can flip our assets for one more piece.

i like spencer but fvv has gone through some deep postseason runs and hit a lot of big shots. he's a year younger and always been a bulldog on d.

getting DFS and the unprotected 1st balances it out though so im psyched about this trade. the 538/raptor model had both of them as equally important pieces in dallas the last few years. and both of them are under contract beyond this year.

Image
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/nba-player-ratings/

even factoring out KD, the nets now have a legit starting 5 without him signed through next year and they all fit the type of defense vaughn wants to play (spence - oneale - dfs - simmons - clax is pretty legit, plus patty, cam, joe off the bench).

and who knows what else they decide to do before the deadline now.

I think if we can somehow get Siakim it would be huge.

I would give up 3 first rounders if we had to. Plus Cam.

We actually got deeper. Tons of good role players who can switch on D and shoot well.

Kyrie could’ve played this out until the summer after the deadline but he actually did help us recoup some value.

I would say it's the same kind of false hope that we had after we traded Harden, we were talking about how we were actually a more balanced, deeper team that was able to defend better...but that hasn't really worked out, it's clear that Harden is more valuable than anything we got back. Seth Curry is nothing more than a good role player, and Simmons is garbage (gotta call it what it is, he's the worst offensive player in the league).

But Kyrie is nowhere close to Harden, and I actually do think the combo of Dinwiddie and DFS are better than him.

Dinwiddie gives us 18ppg 40% 3pt shooting, DFS is a top 3 + D player.

This was a better return than we could have hoped for. All season long ppl on here have said we needed another PG and a big wing. We got them. Now we just need to flip assets for another person that can score.
