Watch the Nets land OG/Siakam before the SUNS trade Crowder. Nets would then have moved Kyrie and found his replacement while Jones does absolutely **** nothing.

Nah. We need people who can spend time actually playing the game and Warren hasn't been that guy in years. We'd be simply trading for another space eater in Crowder, so that's a hard pass.KLEON wrote:JJ what are you waiting for? Jae for Curry and TJ
Also remember that the Suns traded Warren away for effectively nothing. Why would he want to be back? Yeah, I get he'd be under contract and have to return and all but having him upset about a second go wouldn't help us at all. The new owner may be able to help smooth things over but there's no telling for sure.

Thank goodness. I think the Mavs are in a more desperate situation than the Suns with alreayd quiet rumblings of Doncic possibly looking outside of Dallas if they don't see more consistent success.
While on paper the trade for Dinwiddie, DFS, a 1st and a 2nd doesn't seem like a lot, the bigger gamble imo is actually Kyrie. Dude somehow pissed off the whole city of Boston in basically one season and while he's an absolutely spectacular player offensively, it's really the antics and the other stuff that makes him a risk. Ultimately, *if* it doesn't work out just right, that could be a catalyst of Doncic pushing his way out of Dallas.

What about a guy like DeRozan
not sure the expirings and a FRP would work - but if the Bulls are blowing it up
Granted, not sure how he fits with the Suns
I want a guy that can get double figures off the bench

Also I just love how every time a trade goes down, like literally any trade, that doesn't involve the Suns, it's like the James Jones personally gift wrapped a championship to one of those teams by not being involved

Well, I thought that was most likely the offer they'd want, as I mentioned. Scary. I think the Nets will actually be pretty tough with those guys in there when KD comes back.
DFS is a fairly solid 3D starter but they have O Neale. I guess O Neale is the better shooter. They have been starting Simmons and Claxton. Harris has started some. I guess they can start both DFS and O Neale until KD is back which I think might be soon.
I know some think they suck defensively, lilfishi for one, but I think that's some pretty good defensive players.

This feels like a Kawhi situation.
Where would he go? It's not like the LA teams are close to having cap space. The Lakers could have but they traded for Rui instead
It seems the Mavs wouldn't have traded for him unless they thought he seemed willing to stay.
I don't know why Kyrie wouldn't like Dallas. Dallas is a pretty good place to live, I know most stars love LA/NY.
At worst, they could leverage a S&T with the Clips or something for their package of Reggie Jackson/Powell and Kennard or something.

Cheap price, a rival team we already struggle against, and now two of the most annoying players ever on the same team together.
I didn't want Kyrie, but I sure as hell didn't want him on any major rival or competitor for the playoffs. I think this is a pretty bad outcome for the Suns.
A 2029 unprotected first round pick and some scrubs (don't @ me if you don't think those players are scrubs)? Yikes man, I dunno. The west is fairly wide open so we better upgrade somehow because clearly we didn't have the defense or the firepower to beat the Mavs last year.
Granted, at least the Clippers didn't get him for a cheap price.
Yeah, I didn't want Dallas to get him at all. We already have a tough time beating them. But we had moved Mikal off Luka last game and put Cam on him until he got injured so now Mikal could guard Kyrie. We'd just need killer offense ourselves.
That being said, the Mavs usually killed us by shooting insane from 3, so Kyrie really doesn't add much more if they were going to shoot like that anyway.
Though of course they shouldn't maintain shooting like that, so Kyrie really helps them, especially in crunch time.

But didn't the Nets just traded Kyrie got 2 role players... LOL
CP3 + Ayton is a better trade value (skills and salary) than Dinwiddle + DFS. So your argument is hilarious
Nets have KD under contract for multiple years
That's the point... players under contract are the hardest to get rid of when the player wants out.
Do you think KD is actually gonna stick for the full 4 years?
This is the Nets best time to unload KD

I'm wondering if KD will ask out now or what his thoughts are. The Nets front office have been such a poop show the last few years I don't expect KD to be thrilled with what his team has become.
Well KD almost singlehandedly beat the Bucks their championshp year, and their team is much stronger now than what they were in the playoffs. I think they were probably better with Kyrie but I think Dinwiddie and DFS are solid. I bet he will enjoy playing with this group more than dealing with all the Kyrie sagas. Him and Kyrie were obviously close, but he had to be super frustrated with him fairly often with the COVID stuff, Nazi stuff, etc.

KD doesn't have a choice. That ship has sailed and the Nets FO is a disaster.
He does have a choice though. He is hurt right now, and can consider being "hurt'" the remainder of the year. It wouldn't surprise me.
This trade also lowers the expectation of what a star player being traded is valued at. FVV could be had for something similar, and it's something I believe the Suns are actively pursuing once the Raptors GM decides what direction they want to take their franchise.
It's wishful thinking to think KD would want to sit out. There is no evidence he is even unhappy with it all.

So yea, they gave up nobodies for an all star caliber player.
Barely starters...OK, lol.
I understand why the Mavericks made the trade - Luka needed help and Irving will help
But DFS and Dinwiddie were valuable rotation players. Especially against the Suns. AS for the Suns, just saw this tweet - get Booker ack, get something for Crowder, get either Payne or Shamet back in the rotation (or trade one or both) - and hit the post ASB hard. The Suns are right there. They stay healthy the rest of the year - they will be a top 4 seed.
Not saying Dinwiddie/DFS > Kyrie in any shape of form but I think when a big name like Kyrie gets traded most people look at the positives and what the incoming star brings to the able. What they don't (want to?) talk about is the intangibles they give up. Does Kyrie's offensive make up for DFS' ability to guard multiple positions, does he play well enough off-ball with Luka's extremely ball dominant style and will he be able to stay focused on basketball without letting all the other stuff he's into become a distraction?
On the topic of playing off ball, no one comes close to Lukas level of usage except for prime Houston Harden with a 40%+ usage rate. Luka's usage is at around 38% over the past two seasons whereas neither prime Lebron nor KD have ever been higher than 34% usage. When Kyrie played with Lebron and KD, neither guys were much higher than 30% usage. It's going to be a a hella adjustment for both guys.

Well, Dinwiddie was playing great basketball this season and he can put 20 ppg easily as an starting PG/SG.
DFS is one of the best 3&D in the league.
Ben Simmons is the problem there. His salary is crazy for his production.
When you have a guy like KD, the better role players, defenders, shooters around him are great. Dinwiddie has shown he can be a very solid 3D guy. Seems people underestimate these guys even though they gave us fits.
