The Dorian Finney Smith appreciation thread

Post#1 » by Mavrelous » Sun Feb 5, 2023 10:21 pm

From a guys that went undrafted, from modest upbringing, where he learned the value of working hard, arrived to the team very raw, and got better every year in terms of talent, while being an absolute workhorse, 150% effort every time, until last year, teams noticed his talent and offered a 1st for him, Nico didn't take it, and DFS was part of a magical PO run, and absolute defensive masterclass against a 64 wins team, and a mental game 4 with 8 3P made.

Thanks for the memories Doe Doe, you will be missed.

Thank you DFS for the hard work and heart. It sucks that you will be remembered as someone who got traded for an all time team cancer.

Happy to have this guy on the Nets. I remember he shut down KD in one of the regular season games last year. I'll never forget that and wanted him since then.

I wouldn't say shut him, KD almost stole that game and Dinwiddie hit the game winner :) But KD was ticked off and took some shots at him in the post game presser

Nets get a couple of classy dudes while the Mavs get a couple of nuts.
Hate to see Dodo go and wish him the best.
Wish we could have gotten better value for him because he'll be missed.

He's been a Maverick since he's was 23 years old, and now he's 29 years old, so he will certainly be missed. I hope he leaves the door cracked to return if the time is right.

Thank you for all DoeDoe. Amazing hard worker.
He deserves respect because from undrafted he became an NBA rotation player.

Good luck Warrior.

definitely a good team mate and defender we will miss him and his timely 3 pointers. I hope he continues to improve and earns a max in NJ not likely but we can hope that for him.

NJ should win with our guys plus KD and Claxton is someone steps it up to score more. All those SF's are a bit of a bottleneck maybe we poach one in free agency next year. Din looks to have his own team to run now.

A very solid defensive player and he seemed like he was a great locker room and community guy as well.

I wish him nothing but the best, but it was the right move. He’s approaching 30 and his offensive game never really matured to the level the organization wished it could. He never really developed a driving or mid range game and that probably prevented him from being a fringe all star.

Yeah this is awesome. I know Cuban gets a lot of flack with Mavs fans but he definitely takes care of his guys, including post-career. Just got to make sure you don't get on his bad side.

One way or another, I expect DFS to be brought back eventually. The likelihood is at the tail-end of his career or probably post-career. Just feels weird seeing him in a non-Mavs uniform.
