Kyrie would for sure have put the Lakers in an excellent position, but i think the price (WB, 2 FRP, Reaves, Christie) was way too steep for someone who thinks the earth is flat.

I get it from Nets POV as well. They get a pick as well as two plug-and-play guys that’ll work well in the current system.

I wish the Lakers would have been able to bridge the gap by including a third team and/or taken back Joe Harris’ deal or something, but it seems like the Nets weren’t truly interested in dealing with the Lakers.

Already talk in the media that Kyrie is going to the Lakers in the offseason. I’d stay away from offering Kyrie a 200 million dollar contract like a STD, but this is why you don’t give the Nets everything they want for Kyrie at the deadline. He’s very gettable for the Lakers even though I don’t know why.

This. Way too steep. Way too flat.

Good decision the Nets FO made for us! Thanks!

Next, trade Russ’ expiring contract to a bombing team. Accept any defensive minded bulldog PG in return so we can improve our sucky perimeter defense. We also need a defensive big.

I want FVV but I doubt that Russ’ expiring is interesting to them.

I’m elated we didn’t get Kyrie.
I’m also disturbed that we offered 2 FRPs for him. I think this speaks to more than just FO incompetence, but that LBJ has threatened them to get Kyrie or else.

If the Nets consulted KD, which you know they did. Do you think he would agree with playing alongside Westbrook again? Its all smoke and mirrors. Didn't matter how many 1sts we would've sent. They were not taking Westbrook.

Russ has to go. Many reasons for that, but getting back salary-ballast would be good because it allow us to trade down the road.

I think Reaves and Bev can hold their own defensively so for me its mostly about bringing in as much talent as possible. IMO we need shooting, depth at th 5, wing defense and shot creation.

FVV would be nice, though.

Nets fan here.

In the event that KD asks to move on this week, would you be open to trading for Durant in exchange for what you were offering for Kyrie?

Joke?

Most here would give up AD for Durant....if you guys would want him.

Westbrook + 2 picks plus whatever value Christie/Reaves have is an absolute no brainer.

Yes. I’d take that deal.
It definitely looks lopsided in Lakers’ favor, and probably is, although KD is getting up there in age, injuries are likely to set in more often, and his contact is not exactly very desirable.

That said, I’d take that deal if the Nets were willing to do it.
Other teams would be able to offer a lot more than the Lakers though.

On another note , I’m genuinely happy for the great Nets fan base to be rid of Kyrie. What he has done to that organization and fans is truly disheartening.

I'm dead serious. I don't think the Nets can swing another deal to bring in a player that moves the needle.

Yeah i was told on our board that the Lakers package isn't enough.

Thanks. He literally destroyed my love for the Nets. I'm probably done with the team after this season.

Well you can probably squeeze more from the Suns.

I'd think they'll do Bridges/Johnson/Paul/Crowder and 2 1sts for Durant/Simmons.

Crowder is an expiring and Chris Paul has only 15 mil guaranteed for next year, so basically another expiring in the summer.

Cam Johnson is still on his rookie deal and Bridges is signed for a number of years for dirt cheap. Low 20's mil in salaries really is nothing with the cap spiking. Dudes will be getting 50-60 mil a year soon, while not being that much better than Bridges who will only enter his prime.

The only tricky part is their willingness to take on Simmons. But there are only 3 days left and if they will get threatened by another team possibly getting Durant, they'll probably take his salary. They need some talent back as well with all they're giving away.

Lakers' package isn't all that much. It's cap relief and picks, that's it. You can't really call Reaves/Christie "young talent" in a return.
Suns can give you all three.

Van Vleet + Trent Jr. for Westbrook's expiring contract is the likely scenario.

From your lips to god's ears.

I'm relieved that this Kyrie nonsense is forever. It was a waste of 48 hours. I'd love any of the following packages:

- Westbrook, Christie, Gabriel, Walker, 2 1sts (unprotected) for Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr, Chris Boucher.
- Westbrook, Christie, Walker, 2027 1st (unprotected), 2023 2nd round pick for Conley, Kelly Olynyk, Malik Beasley, Rudy Gay.
- Westbrook, Walker, 2027 1st (unprotected) for Hayward, Rozier, Jalen McDaniels
- Westbrook, Christie, 2 1sts (unprotected) for Bogdanovic, Burks, Noel, Cory Joseph

The Lakers have to deal these picks, get off Westbrook and acquire talent. You can't continue on with Westbrook, especially after all this.
