I disagree. Holmes has been stuck playing the 5, where he had some decent success, when he is more naturally a PF. Granted he might struggle against quick rangy lightweight 4’s, but his size and agility would bring something our undersized PJ can’t provide.
His issues started with some personal problems via a divorce and the ex making outrageous accusations. It took some time but that (abuse of his kids) was finally disproven. He now has custody of his kids. He had some injury issues (nothing major). All this led to less playing time. At 29 he is still in his prime. When a starter he’s been a consistent 60+% FG shooter, 75+% FT, and is a capable 3 point shooter. He is a good defender, especially against the P&R. By all accounts he is a hard worker, dedicated, and a quality vet who could help this bunch of youngsters grow up.
I’d much prefer paying him $11M for the next few seasons than resigning PJ at the kind of money we’ve heard reports of. Deal some assortment of PJ, Rozier, Oubre et all for a quality 2 guard, start Williams & Holmes, get experience growing together, then bring Miles back for next season. Draft well (hopefully), have Nick backup the 5, Bridges starting at 3 but backs the 4 spot, with Gordon off the bench until he’s traded.
I respect your opinion, but I cannot disagree anymore. There is no way possible Holmes is a 4. I don't even like him as a 5 as a backup on that contract. I just disagree.
Would Sacramento be willing to unload a first to get out of Holmes contract? If so we should do it and have Holmes as our backup and Williams as our starting 5.

I thought about it with Irving's move. We even could see a battle for him now lol...

Mavs fan here…
Would you be interested in a Jaden Hardy for Jalen McDaniels swap?

Woj mentioned on ESPN that there aren't many sellers and those that are have higher asking prices.

Probably need to get more value, I think Hardy is a decent prospect but if you could help us get off a contract as well then maybe we can talk. Not interested in 1 for 1 swap though

I don't see anything with a 2 team move, probably would have to be a 3 team trade after looking.

I kind of want to do the McDaniels/Bones swap. Seems fun and low risk. I'd probably send them a little extra value if Bones is regarded that well as a prospect.

I'd listen for sure, but one of my good friends is a diehard nets fan, and him watching Ben Simmons refuse to take open shots and layups might be literally taking years off his life.

Some chatter collected from Plowright. Many thanks for putting this together.
1. The Hornets would prioritize players that can help them next season over future picks.
- this is a bit surprising but also not surprising at all if you know anything about the history of this franchise. Typical of our front office to have zero patients for any type of prolonged rebuild, collecting assets thinking about anything other than next year. Hopefully this means at least prioritizing a few veterans that can straighten out this locker room and teach the kids how to play winning basketball.
2. Mason's trade value is increasing and while we probably won't get a first round pick back for him, it is possible to get multiple second round picks for a player and a second round pick
- this news is not surprising at all given the incredible stat padding being done by plumlord.
3. Nobody is talking about kelly,
- I guess the only people discussing Kelly are me and JMAC
4. Mason is the most likely player to be traded, Terry next
- this is not surprising. I think we would have all put the odds at him getting traded as the highest. It's also not surprising that there are some teams interested in acquiring terry. Plenty of playoffs teams could use that type of offense creation off of the bench. He would make a great six man for a winning team.
5. McDaniels extension. If he isn't traded look for Charlotte to try to extend him before the summer.
- makes perfect sense. If you aren't going to sign him then you better trade him. And if you don't trade him you better sign him now before he hits the Open Market in the summer.
6. PJ mixed bag of interest
7. Hornets want to preserve their cap space for the summer in order to resign some key free agents

Is there any multiverse, any combination of events, teams, coaches, players that can get Simmons to play at an All-Star level again?SWedd523 wrote:From Batum to Gordon to Simmons

Or is he 100% a complete and lost cause never to be a valuable player ever again, written off as one of the biggest what if myths of all time?
Is there some version of Simmons that sits somewhere in the middle of these two polar extremes that would be a valuable asset to the roster here in charlotte? What a few years out of the pressure cooker, away from the pressure of the playoffs and big city reporting, help get him back on track? Is it possible someone like lamelo, who brings 100% Joy to the game every time he steps on the floor B infectious and rub off on Simmons? I mean what player would not enjoy playing with lamelo on offense? If there's no real pressure to win, and no real pressure from Big City media, and it's just back to having fun on the basketball court, could that work for Simmons here in charlotte?

Does that mean PJ + McD + Miles or extending Oubre for another 2 years?

I'd hope so because he makes 37 and 40 million the next 2 years after this one. Talk about a risk.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
I wouldn't mind Simmons if we can get off both Terry and Hayward. I really think he'll be much better with the national spotlight off of him. He's only played in Philly and New York, 2 of the 3 worst, most stressful fanbases

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Simmons, Harris, and the 29 unprotected Dallas first for Hayward, Rozier, and McDaniels. We should do that deal (and the Nets too, since they have no first round picks til '28)
6 years is such a long time in the NBA, any unprotected pick from any franchise is worth a lot. You can make the case that each of the top 3 seeds in each conference right now could be bad in 29

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Not interested in Simmons personally. His contract overlaps with LaMelo extension also I think the back injury was more serious than we were led to believe. He looks less quick and athletic than he did during his prime run with 76ers.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Simmons was extended according the designated rookie rule thingy or not ? If so, i doubt he ever comes here, Ball (and surroundings) will look for the max contract he can get here.
nm i just have confirmation here
Anyway, between the Clippers, the Suns, the Nets now, Miami, Philly, Denver.. you dont even need LA to speculate on trades on the Hornets's side.
Next piece to fall should be Conley, hopefully Ainge does not push too far so that dominos keep falling
