Phew.... finally!

Edit: just done some digging... Shams suggest this wasn't now and Wood hasn't taken it. But at least it's good to know that an offer was actually made. Playing with Kyrie and Luka should also be an incentive for Wood to extend after 7 teams of losing basketball.

Woods was interviewed by a Mavs reporter yesterday. He said he was staying away from social media headed into the deadline. And he hopes he isn't traded.

Well there you go. Sign the extension and don't be dreaming of a max deal now.

Hope the Wood extension is contingent on an expanded role on the defensive end. Dallas doesnt need Wood to score 30 now with Kyrie and Luka around. So he has more time to do things on the defensive end and crash the boards. He'll have to accept being a do it all power forward now ala Kevin Love or Chris Bosh (depending which year you were watching Lebron).

Holy **** i can't belive Mavs are doing some good and logical things when it comes to players. Wood has been a really good fit and if the contract is not too expensive, he's going to be a solid 3rd option.

And obviously keeping Green is a must now. He's basically DFS 2.0.

Well it's refreshing to see a Mavs GM use his brain as we've been used to Donnie not using his for like 2 decades.

You’re not wrong but at a certain point we’re judging a fish by its ability to climb a tree. Woods has done the work this year a plus defender and has had 0 out burst even though the Mavs have kinda jerked him around a bit.

Woods deserves 4/77 because he is the perfect pick and roll partner with Luka and Kyrie. If you’re offering him money to be Rudy gobert you’re always gonna be disappointed.

They need a Rudy Gobert to play next to Wood.

Do you have 5 1st round picks to go trade for him?

I mean I would have thought he was offered an extension months ago. The question is how much and how many years?

Do you have 5 1st round picks to go trade for him?

I didn’t mean Gobert specifically, they just need a defensive center that can rebound.

Sure, they should be targeting Jakob Poeltl or Jared Vanderbilt but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Dallas is well served with Christian wood on offense, he is an elite threat.

I hope they keep Wood he is looking good on the floor now and his blocks have been very impressive but he is not a max contract type player given he is not the kind of center that would warrant that kind of $$$ because he just is not a dominant player for the position and in fact he is more PF than center so we need to grab a 7' center and maybe Utah is open to trading us AZABUIKE. I still want Wood to score as well as he is but I want more defense and less injuries.

With Wood getting an extension, how does this affect Luka recruiting Markannen in 2025?
