Being selfish isn't his only weakness though.

Like I said before...if he can make the damn shot...why pass it?

Not everyone on the court needs to be the same kind of player. That might explain why this team is the way it is...they all too similar.

I'm going to pretend you just didn't say that. lol.

Barnes as PG passing to these 2 gunners with Claxton under the rim might be fun to watch

- He’s still young at 25. Can fit almost championship timeline for the next 8 years. Great fit with a young team.
- Has a very cheap contract. Heck, it was considered cheap when he first signed the deal before the crazy recent salary inflation in the NBA.
-Amazing defensive versatility, especially on the wing, which is the most dynamic and difficult to guard.
-Ridiculous offensive versatility in terms of slotting into any position aside from C. Very valuable for a coach to have a guy who can mesh with any unit.

His youth is my biggest reason. A young growing core of -
PG: Trent
SG: Anunoby
SF: Barnes
PF: Achiuwa
C: Koloko
- seems so interesting to me.

All these guys want to be happy is to get the minutes, get the touches, get the opportunity to shine and show their worth. This can’t be done when Fred and Pascal are running on fumes playing 48 minutes/night.

Make everyone happy and trade both Pascal/Fred instead of O.G./Trent.

I don’t want to make this about trade ideas. More so to put out there in the ether that I am vehemently against trading O.G., and would prefer we went with a youth movement.

Mind you we could probably get a young star if we package Fred+Pascal in a deal. But just imagine if both guys were simply gone from the team, and were replaced by serviceable role players. This young core could probably win just as many games this season. And it would have been so much more fun to watch.

Use Trent as more of an off ball combo guard, while Scottie becomes the primary facilitator.
Because of Precious’ size I’d prefer him to be an agile, explosive PF who can shoot the occasional 3.
And O.G. can be O.G.

Obviously not a contender, but that’s a core that could win a playoff round in 2-3 years.
Not to mention if we add a top 10 player via FA or trade when the time is right.

Just a few months ago this board didn’t even want to trade O.G. For Durant, and now they want him gone for 3 1st round picks that probably won’t even amount to what he brings. I don’t get it..

Super lame that this got collapsed into another thread…

I was hoping to have a discussion about what the team would have looked like this season so far and going forward if we had a youth movement.
And how giving more usage + minutes to the young guys could make the team happier/better even.

Supermoddingitup.

Spent all that time and probably no-one will see or engage with my post now..

The reason this was merged is that these points (valid as they may be) have been made and discussed ad-nauseum. It's why we aggregate them into a super thread.

Waiters came into the league in 2012. If he came into the league now, he'd put up some 40 point games now too.

Waiters was always inefficient.

Cam's shooting 46% and 40% from 3. That's not bad. And every game he has scored 15+...it's been at 50% or greater shooting...the numbers tell all.

Sorry man...don't see the comparison.

Players are way more efficient now than they were when Dion entered the league. Cam's TS% is 56% which is probably league average for his position. He's not a good basketball player. In fact, you can argue he's a horrible basketball player if you look at all the popular impact metrics as voted on by NBA teams.

Do I care if he's a throw in? No, I don't. That's fine. But some of you are putting him in as a main piece for guys like OG and Fred.

The fact that no one was even talking about Cam Thomas last week tells you everything you need to know about how much you guys are overreacting to a couple high scoring games.

He's been on my radar since last season. He had a stretch as a rookie when he averaged 20+ points a game over an 8 game stretch. These back-to-back 40+ point games aren't a fluke if you'd been following him. Like I said before...I like his confidence. He can shoot it much better than Waiters ever could.

Throw-in or whatever...I'd enjoy watching him on this team. He's not a tall guard but I'm done discriminating about length and size. You lose out on some very good players when you are too concerned about measurements.

So we would be okay with Siakam for Claxton + Cam + one or two 1sts after Cam going Kobe the last two games?

Didn't realize the Nets could only give us picks in 2027, 2028, and 2029. Figured we could take on Simmons and get a few more in a Pascal Claxton swap. Finney Smith, Curry, or Dinwiddie instead.

Of course you have to add Simmons or Joe Harris to make the salaries work

Ya, but I would want two to three unprotected firsts and swing Cam to a 3rd team for another protected first.

tbh no

OG + Fred + Boucher? maybe..Gimme Din or Curry too

Dinwiddie/ Thomas
Trent/ ?
Barnes/ OPJ
Siakam/ Achiuwa
Claxton/ Koloko

Barnes running point with Thomas and Trent at the wings, Siakam in the mid range and Claxton under the rim is much more entertaining than whatever the hell we have going on right now

We really went from arguing about Murphy III/Daniels/Sharpe/Cam Johnson/Keegan Murray to Cam **** Thomas for a Siakam/OG trade?

If Cam Thomas is headlining a Siakam/OG trade then fire Masai cause he’s washed.

Yeah, seems pretty obvious. If Pascal is too much and Fred isn't enough, then OG would seem to be the main piece in a Claxton type of deal.

Don't think there's really anyone on the Nets aside from Durant that would be a match in a Siakam deal.
