He has one more year on his contract after this season and will be a UFA. Do you want to pay him $20 mill (Poeltl as a comparable) to retain him?

He’s also a sub-50% FT shooter so he’s not closing any games for you.

You don’t trade wings like Siakam/OG for a big like him. Just go after him or Poeltl in free agency.

numbers and analytics alone don't/can't account for chemistry and team issues and that's the big issue with these guys. on-paper everyone agrees they should be an above-average team but that's why they don't just simulate games.

OG should not be grouped in together with Siakam.

He's a super good 3 and D player. Thats it. Claxton's defensive contribution is nearly on par with OG's depending on how much yoou value rim protectors over wing defenders.

OG Siakam and Barnes will never work unless you have a finals MVP caliber PG or C so its not like we got a closing line up with OG in it either. Reason being all 3 are subpar iso scorers/ poor half court offence.

Being selfish isn't his only weakness though.

Like I said before...if he can make the damn shot...why pass it?

Not everyone on the court needs to be the same kind of player. That might explain why this team is the way it is...they all too similar.

The Raptors have a pretty decent version in GTJ. He's a much more controlled version.

Maybe Thomas becomes more controlled, and even starts to play decent defense. But, guys like him are a dime a dozen. We don't need to have this long conversation about him and the Raptors don't need two of those type of players on one team.

You also do not give up any significant pieces for that. This is like a Delano Banton or Flynn type of value. We let one of these go in Terrence Davis for a second round pick.

Please God don't let us waste OG on getting another non shooter/non scorer like Claxton.

Go get one of Sharpe, Daniels or Murphy instead! If we can't get any of those done then I guess Claxton + picks but that would not be my first choice (and Thomas being included would be a must, hell no to Ben). You can get away with a non shooting big when you have other shooters on the floor, bring in him & Ben, our entire offence will be a full episode of Shaqtin A Fool.

I can see them laughing at our offence now "Shooot it! No you shoot it! No you shoot it! I'll get the rebound, alleyoop into the stands"....

Ya...the Terrence Davis comp is lazy. Ya...they both undersized shooting guards...but that's really where the comparison ends. This team needs scoring and the ability to shoot. Ya we have GTJ but clearly he isn't enough.
