Interesting that Lewenberg is saying that Masai and Co. Ate not thrilled with offers so far and are ok with holding onto OG and Siakam. Fred and Trent would be the most likely traded due to contract status. Lewenberg has been used as a mouthpiece for the FO before.
This is so gross. Maybe they think they can pull a Lowry again with achiuwa not being available mid season but became available in the offseason with the sign and trade. Tbh, I don't see any team realistically offering fvv the money he wants and to me thats not a risk worth taking. Dinwiddie and some first round picks is good for me. They probably want Claxton too. If I'm the Nets though, Claxton Dinwiddie and some picks for a star pg is a steal
Legit this FO needs to be canned if they just sit on their hands & do nothing then run the risk of losing a guy for nothing or having to overpay him & turn this into one of the most expensive treadmill teams of all time. I don't buy they're not getting good offers when every report contradicts that. It would just show cowardice, they've been beyond reluctant to let go despite how painfully obvious how limited of a ceiling they have but it appears at times they only care about the floor and Playoff revenues.
As for trading FVV to BKN, for me the target should be Cam Thomas, not Claxton.
BKN will still want to keep Claxton to compete now anyways & Cam is such a natural replacement to come in and takeover that scoring production long term & likely surpass it as he's a legit bucket getter. We already have a bunch of long defenders, time to bring
in more skills.
It's not cowardice to me it's just overvaluation. Like they think these guys are way better than they are.
The only legitimate star talent they have on this team is siakam and potentially Barnes. That's it. And even siakam is still best as a 2nd option. Og, fvv, are being severely overrated by the organization and if teams want them now because they're desperate for their services, then now is the best time to unload them. I understand not wanting to be ripped off either, but there's also an addition by subtraction element...
On paper was the talent we got for Rudy gay equal value? HeLl no... a bunch of scrub role players... but guess what they flourished here because they had specific roles and they balanced the team out better... we got rid of our selfish star iso happy basketball and allowed other players to flourish and allowed them to play as a team... it sounds all too familiar to me.
