Kamagate next year?

Post#1 » by Mac1958 » Tue Feb 7, 2023 3:10 pm

Looks like he's doing pretty well in France's top league, and the Nugs need a backup center:

https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2022/11/draft-and-stash-prospect-ismael-kamagate-hopes-to-play-for-nuggets-in-2023-24.html

Competing in France’s top basketball league (LNB Pro A) and the EuroCup, Kamagate has been impressive so far this season, averaging 10.6 PPG, 8.8 RPG, and 2.1 BPG in 13 total games, with an eye-popping .811 FG%. The 21-year-old told Le Parisien that he’s happy he chose to spend the year in Paris, but likes the idea of playing next season in Denver, which he referred to as a “very nice city.”

“It is inspiring to think that one day I will be able to train and play with Nikola Jokic,” Kamagate said.

Certainly a strong possibility but let’s temper expectations here, he’ll need some time to acclimate to the NBA

While he's just on an expiring contract, wondering what impact Thomas Bryant will have on this front should he play well thru the playoffs ? Bryant is only 25yo

I have a feeling he will want more PT and a bigger contract but who knows. He apparently asked for a trade from the Lakers, wanting more time after AD returned. I am hoping he will understand the situation here, being on a contender for the first time in his career.

I like Bryant and I like the fit too but Nuggets should have made other moves as well

for now, their best move is reassuring Bryant that they traded for him because they want him long term and that he should worry about the team doing well and not his PT

something along the lines of: do right by us and we'll do right by u and pay u in the summer

otherwise when he'll play he'll just try to showcase himself, as he was in that now iconic LBJ record breaking shot with Bryant calling for the ball :|

Heard thoughts that he could, but doing so would take AG50 away from Jokic's side. That said, a backup PG/C with his size that can shoot would give the opposition something to think twice about.

I don't think Bryant knows it but he is a backup, not a starting center.
Canned in Denver.

Doesn't every player think of themselves as a starter ?
