I'm no insider but it was reported that Tor was trying to get our 2 picks in a trade down scenario. Yes, you wanted Mobley but with him likely gone by 3, why trade back if Scottie was your other target with the potential risk of Orl taking Scottie. Orl was content with whoever was potentially available at 5.

100% false that we would look at Barnes and Suggs equally. So to move down knowing ORL would take Barnes doesnt add up so in essence this was false too. He wasn't our target. All the reporting and hearing our coaches/FO speak was that Barnes was their guy. And actually, there were rumours of us trying to trade up with CLE to draft Mobley.

To be honest, every team always gets their top guy on draft night, lol.

Maybe not Barnes & Suggs equally but that's why I included the "(or maybe another player)". If Tor was entertaining a trade-down scenario, there's SOMEONE else they liked enough to be OK with it, if Barnes was gone.

I believe the rumor to be true. We'll agree to disagree. Also not disputing the trade-up rumors for Mobley; I remember those also.

Our top guy I believe was Mobley but we couldnt get it done and CLE was locked in with him.

We weren't targeting Suggs so if ORL wanted Barnes - that report was simply not true. We never valued both players equally either.

Problem is, LA is always a star FA destination, so 4-5 years from now maybe their new core is Zion and Trae.

Well, if we haven't been building around Pascal for the past 4 years, who have we been building around? Fred? OG? We have absolutely been building around Pascal, you can argue we've been doing it poorly though, I won't dispute that.

I think you really underrate Nic Claxton. His numbers this season are pretty insane, he's leading the league in blocks per game and field goal percentage, he's like a 7 years younger Rudy Gobert who is paid $8M/year which is incredibly cheap for that level of production. Also, the Nets have a number of first round picks they could include, they just got one in the Dallas deal and they have two more from the Ben Simmons trade.

Building around someone implies you're adding talent around him. We lost talent in Gasol and Ibaka and then added younger pieces for Norm and Kyle.

I don't underrate Claxton at all. I like him. But if you think he's getting traded for Pascal you're sorely mistaken. Check out Bobby Marks trade proposal on ESPN today. Claxton, Harris and three FRPs for OG. That's what they think Claxton's value is and you think he can get an ALL-NBA talent in return. He can't even get a 3+D player like OG in return without adding picks. lol. I'm not underrating Claxton. You're overrating him.

What has history taught us? Never overpay for bigs like Claxton.

If all our players are so great and valuable, why has our team performed so poorly the past 3 years? It's all Nick Nurse's fault? Or just back luck due to injuries even though every team has injuries? What's the answer here? I guess you'd just stand pat and continue to watch our team fail until we have to start letting players go because we can't pay them the large contracts they demand?

And this was the only suggested trade I saw from Bobby Marks for the Toronto Raptors, it was posted Feb 5th:

Trade we would like to see: Trent to New Orleans for Devonte' Graham, Jaxson Hayes and a 2027 first-round pick (less favorable of New Orleans and Milwaukee). If either first falls in the top-5, New Orleans will send Toronto 2028 and 2029 second-round picks.

Seems like a terrible trade for us, we lose Trent for 2 players Nurse isn't going to play and a pick that might turn into second rounders 4 years from now.

I'm telling you that from now.

Masai is the ultimate con, he played like he was leaving just some emotionally attached fans could get all hyped up and force MSLE to make him highest paid. What has he done since ? spends so much time in Africa and too weak to make sure guys like Fred are kept in check. I am so sick of clown fans worshipping a guy who has sat on his butt doing zero since our chip season He talks a good game and then does nothing, just come out and say were not doing nothing and have been acting like some drama queens the past 3-4 weeks for attention. We're very sorry for wasting the time of the GM's from other teams and were never serious about trading anyone because we see them coming on.

It seems like no deal/offer is good enough and I just don't believe that because they have so many teams interested. Are they all offering just garbage second rounders ? Very sad but with Masai also very predictable

Another day, another Dude-Niagra "Masai isn't what he was" post, like clockwork

Another day and another Masai dk rider coming to his defence, just remember this after he does nothing again.

Unfortunately those picks are in Los Angeles. If it were not a hot ticket FA market, I'd easily say yes.

Pelicans still sitting on a damn goldmine and Griffin is doing his best Danny Ainge impression of letting his war cache rot.

Not wise to take a gamble like that though. That's 5 and 7 years down the road. A lot can change during that time.

I agree & that's the problem with LA's picks.

If there is any intention to trade Fred I think it will happen soon. I can’t imagine holding Fred out tomorrow and risking not being able to trade him. That would make for a messy locker room.

There are 30 teams in the NBA, each doing their best to win a championship.

If winning a championship and becoming one of the most well run, respected organizations in the league isn't enough for you, I question whether anyone can meet your expectations. There's only a handful of teams that have won more NBA regular seasons games than the Toronto Raptors since Masai took over.

I understand that in today's world people (not necessarily you) expect instant gratification. But if that's your thinking, maybe following sports is too complex, or emotionally taxing, and those overly sensitive individuals should follow the Underwater Basket Weaving Championships on ESPN 3 every Sunday at 3:30AM EST (mostly re-runs)

I am not expecting a title this season or next or the yer after, I want a team that plays exciting team basketball. Not some 2 man ISO circus show where we only beat crappy teams or teams missing key players. Stop making this about demanding changes for a title, how about trading out fake star and getting another exciting young player along with some depth pieces.

I do like that he is from Minny, so he is used to cold weather. With a guy like Ayton who we are rumored to be interested in, the guy grew up in the Bahamas and has only lived in Arizona in college and the NBA. Not sure how well he will adapt to Canada.

Suggs was suspended for coming off the bench. He pulled Rivers off Bamba, it’s not like he got in there throwing punches.

I’d be fine with Suggs and Bamba for Fred. I really think Bamba would do well in a different environment. We aren’t winning right now but I’d wager than the culture here is significantly better than in Orlando.

Suggs looked like he has played some football - this was more of a tackle:

he'll be moved, but I think the Nets will keep him now and try to appease him with trades. KD doesn't really have any leverage to force a deal now like Kyrie did since he's under contract, and it's not like offers for him will get worse in the summer.

He did play football in high school and was also a top recruit. Instead opted to play basketball.

He still plays basketball like it's football though (both in a good and bad way).
