Not sure why people are taking it personal on behalf of players that don't even know they exist.
I never once said og was a bad player or Said he wasn't a dpoy nor was he a valuable role player. I actually agree that he is so I guess thank you for putting me in the peer group of respected bask3tball people.
That being said Bruce bowen was 1st team all nba defense countless times, and was always in the running for dpoy, but if I'm a rebuilding team and someone is asking me for Bruce bowen in a trade and I'm getting talent of equal or more value potentially and it addressees other needs on the team, then I'd be stupid not to make that trade. Players like og are valuable on contenders. If I'm contending this year I'm keeping og. In our current situation he's expendable.
Bruce Bowen, was an elite defensive 6.1ppg specialist. One of the greatest defenders in the NBA history, that was very rarely asked to shoot basketballs into the peach basket. His highest offensive production (8.1 ppg) was a 5th option in 2005.OG is actually relied on to score and in general has more tools, and versatility to his game.
And that brings me to another point. Believe it or not, the game has changed quite a bit over the last few years (thank you Phoenix, Golden State, etc). Bruce may be elite defensively in today's game, or maybe not (I want to believe he would still be amazing). But his responsibilities would be more difficult. The range you have to cover in the NBA as an elite 3+D wingman is ridiculous. And that's without getting into all the rule changes that favor offenses. OG has and will continue to cover all 5 positions. Big or small, he takes on all challengers.
Its clear you didnt even bother to read Boogie’s post fully and just saw “Bruce Bowen” and started looking up random stats as fast as you could.
Are you related to someone else on this board?
I read the post fully. It was not that difficult.
You're reading words right now.
Are you having troubles doing so?
Hopefully not, and if so, I suggest consulting a physician.
Cool make-believe narrative though.
Did you use one of those random story generators or just think of it all by your lonesome?
Most of your reply doesn't even pertain to the topic of basketball. But you knew that before clicking the button. *giggle*
As far as stats go.
Welp, I've been following sports pretty avidly for 50 or so odd years. I fell in love with the idea of advanced metrics long before it was a discussion. I'm a numbers guy (and no, they aren't even close to the main determining factor of talent). But the nice thing about technology is that there are so many new levels to separate players skillsets and identify and strengths and weaknesses. I'm pretty specific with this stuff, or at least try to. I'm in my 4th decade with my wife and let me tell ya, my specificity can drive her nuts at times. But i digress...
Where were we? Ahh yes, it was me typing "I'm too old for the ad hominem garbage. It will never work on me. Have fun burning calories"
