Brook is a stretch five with a lot of height and weight. Without Nurk or anyone mobile enough but still strong to move up from fourh to five, he's always going to eat against us. Especially when playing next to Giannis.
Giannis is the best player on the planet. It's just rough.

I don't love little +2 seconds for Vando. Nas is developing fine and on a great contract going forward. Winslow +Keon +2nd for Vando and and Azabuike works and is solid for both teams
From Portland to Reno to Vegas to LA to SLC and on to HotLanta. Winning at life. Too Blessed to be Stressed

No. Stop sending out 1sts. The Blazers roster is messed up salary-wise due to sending 3 picks out for Covington and Nance. Not an all-star. Rentals of Covington and Nance. If 2nd round picks can land Vanderbilt, sure. But Portland really needs to stop sending out 1st round picks for mediocre players.

I'm fine for doing nothing for this team has too many flaws to win a playoff round for Giannis is not walking through the door at the trade deadline.

I had a typo in my post, it was meant to be seconds, obviously we aren't sending out two firsts for Vanderbilt lmao.

Another target I don't get. OG is nice, but man... it's just another of what the Blazers already have plenty of, B-level wings. Good player, but he's on a Jerami Grant level, helpful to an extent, but not getting the Blazers more wins than they already have.
Stop wasting assets on mid-players Blazers.

I've been a big fan of OG since we passed on him to move up for Zach Collins but as soon as you get involved in a bidding war involving unprotected picks for a guy who cannot put a team on his back if necessary you have already lost.

I just wonder if OG is really a younger version of Covington

Re: Trade Deadline Approaches
Covington was noted for making an all defensive team one year especially on team/help D … not for 1:1 defense. Not a shot creator or more than a couple straight line dribbles. An open 3 point shooter but not particularly good … up and down League average.
OG is noted for his D, including multi-position and man defense. He’s not noted as a shot creator for self or others, but his O is superior to Cov. His % on 3s and otherwise are more consistent year to year and better and at age25. If he’s good as Grant (or better), then that’s better than Aldridge + (the inconsistent) Batum … which means going back to the days of Rasheed to find a better forward combo. This is and has been the Blazers’ greatest weakness for a decade. [That with inferior guard defense for a domino effect]
I’m NOT stuck on OG as a Blazer. I am saying this is the Blazers’ weakness compounded with a smaller SG with mediocre D and lesser size and ability at SF.
The rumored asking price of Toronto is nuts. You don’t give up Shaedon Sharpe in a package this early for anyone but a star … but Simons? That’s a closer call. Smaller but athletic … great shooter developing all levels but the D isn’t there. Reasonable contract.

Even if he were an all star I wouldn't try to get in a bidding war. No doubt he's good but masai will win the og trade however that coin falls and I don't want to be the loser in those sweepstakes. I'd prefer we stay away from Toronto deals entirely
The only way I want to see this kind of package of 3 firsts and Sharpe and/or anf is in an offer for kd or another home run win now player. If it doesn't work then just hold onto what we have until it's sensible to move guys but chasing a bidding war works out about as well as bidding against yourself resigning your own players

Vanderbilt and OG are both easy passes for me for two reasons: Their size, and the GMs that rep them.
Both players are in the 6'7-6'8 / 225-230lb range. They are both Small Forwards and I think we need a PF and a Center. That's why I keep bringing up Ben Simmons and Mark Williams. Exactly what we need IMO.
I don't want to deal with Utah or Toronto. Not likely it will end well.

I agree, those gms or consultants in the case of ainge are hard ballers who like to squeeze gms
Knowing little to nothing about Vanderbilt I'd be willing to deal 2 seconds for him along with nas. Not a whole lot more unless they really like nurk
I wish we could convince cronin to let grant walk but sadly it looks like he will let Hart go for nothing and sign grant for a gazillion

Re: Trade Deadline Approaches
I wonder how Dame would take a Hart trade for a FRP.
He'd go ballistic if Portland traded Grant for a FRP, if the future price for Grant was just too much
for Portland this summer.

Re: Trade Deadline Approaches
No one asked for a treadmill, we asked for a second star next to Dame which the blazers FO seems unwilling or unable to do. The only word I can think of is pathetic when describing the abilities of this organization.
Jody, Cronin (Olshey 2.0.), and Billups need to go, but sadly I don’t see them leaving until they've squeezed every last cent out of Dame and his window is completely closed.

Re: Trade Deadline Approaches
I am concerned that Sharpe has pulled out of the Slam Dunk contest. Feels like he might be the major piece to a trade. OG would be a short term upgrade at the 3, but I worry that Sharpe might have a much higher upside in a couple of years. I know they want to do right by Dame, but I don't know if OGs the game changer.
And maybe Shaedon just wants to focus on the rest of the Blaxer season (may have take on some of Josh's duties)

Re: Trade Deadline Approaches
I think it's more likely he pulled because the NBA decided they were going to put g-leaguers into the rising stars game and he didn't get an invite. Because that's super insulting to him.
Return to Portland Trail Blazers
